ray mcdonald rotational DE ?
no way

imo youre looking at the wrong part of the equation. our pressure problems start with aldon and justin looking MUCH more pedestrian than last year.

couple it with our secondary being very shaky...and thats the reason defense is worse.

ray mc is fine and so is our LB core. aldon and justin just arent that great putting pressure like they could last year, for whatever reason. justin in general looks like hes slowed down this season in all aspects :( or the league has adjusted.

But that's the thing, we need other guys to step up. Justin Smith only has a year or two left as a star DE, but also, teams are just all around better blockers the years, especially in the case of the Giants and Vikings. The Giants are healthy this year, also their younger linemen have improved considerably. The only team in our divison with iffy blocking are the Cards. We are ultimately playing far better teams this year, we're not the Falcons who play 9 or 10 cupcake games every year. If you look at our remainig schedule, we could easily drop 4 or 5 of those games.

I actually think our secondary is pretty good, even with our diminished pass rush, we defend the pass well. Without a good pass rush, any teams secondary will have a tough time making plays. If Russel Wilson has 5-7 seconds to make a throw, we're fukked.

he does everything a 3-4 de should do. well, he's no jj watt or justin in his prime...but thats understandable.

he's the least talked about guy on our defense who shouldve been talked about in the last couple of years

No to the bolded. The secondary has played really well outside of NYG. You can't put the D struggles on the secondary, even in the 2nd half of NYG they held up for the most part.

I think you're onto something with Aldon and Justin though, they just don't seem to be reeking havoc like before. I also agree with you about RayMac, he's gonna be fine and he's not a rotational guy, he just needs to pick it up a bit, with the rest of the d-line.

secondary been shaky, besides them shutting down mega in bracket and the first game, all other games had them being beat deep.

carlos and culliver especially have been playing like :gag: imo

whitner also regressed

with that said, I believe in fangio, and with this LB core and dline I think we'll be ok.

I don't see how they were shaky against GB, we shut them down, sure Rodgers through for 300 but they didn't even have a RB in the backfield and most the passes were to Cobb out the backfield.

The only game that secondary looked bad was NYG, We're 2nd in the league in PYPG allowed.

I said they looked decent in the first game and against megatron....

our stats look good but theres a caveat that two games were against fitz and fez...lackluster general play by the opponent masked the fact that secondary wasnt playing well.

with that said, I agree with that NYG was the worst game by the secondary and there just arent many teams in the league who can connect on deep passes like eli and co can...but I feel like our past weaknesses- namely spotty pass rush and secondary are making an ugly (hopefully brief) return

They played lackluster due to our secondary. The Bills have put up big numbers on other teams before

not true. bills played lackluster on defense that kept the offense off the field and key turnovers by pickspatrick and the receiver...secondary got beat a few times but fitz couldnt even throw the ball there. same with fez.

secondary got beat with at least one deep ball at the very least 3 games in the row. when goldson made outstanding plays or fez and fitz overthrew/underthrew the guys it didnt matter. when eli hit his guys it mattered

rogers particularly has been fukking up tons of time in the slot and culliver has been giving up the longball. cully got beat twice by the bills only for fitz to throw ducks, one of them a pick.

yeah, we got lucky a couple of time against the Jets and the Bills. I'm a fan of Culli but he's been beaten A LOT this year, thing was the opponent's QB was ass.

It's not much that I think Ray Mac is marginal, in fact I think he's good but I think it's because of the overall defense elevating him, as opposed to his overall talent and I think it's kind of been showing this year. I think he's a little better than average, I graded him at a B when I did an overview of the teams players, I thought last year was a breakout year, but he's been a C- this year and has made me question whether he's a true starter, but then again our front 7 as a whole needs to step it up so perhaps I'll reserve further judgement until the end of the season.
