Movie ticket prices have gone up over 30% in the same time period.

AND games were still more expensive in the 80s and 90s not only relative to inflation.

Exactly, and lets not forget it was EA and Take-two who were the first to jump on it. At least most of Sonys game budgets warrant raise in price unlike the annual sports game and GTA online updates
