My brother was on life support for 10 days after he had his stroke. I'd go see him and when you looked in his eyes, you knew nothing was there. Doctors would try everything and he wasn't responding at. After about a week the nurses told me since his brain went without oxygen for 9 mins, he's in a vegetative state so either pull the plug or put in a peg tube and have him be a vegetable for the rest of his life. I just remember sitting in my room and crying so I can imagine how his family is feeling right now.
My dad decided to take a chance and put the peg tube in. A couple days later, he started responding and was discharged 2 months later. He can't live independently and has so many cognitive problems, it's like dealing with someone with dementia. The worst part about this whole thing is I lost my sister 8 months later and he can't comprehend that she's not here with us anymore.
I really feel for his family right now because the initial stage of grief isn't something I'd wish on anyone.

Also, a downside to being vegetative vs brain dead is if you decide to pull the plug, the person basically has to starve and dehydrate to death. What is life man:mjcry:
Legal euthanasia. Hopefully one day.

Its easy when the whole family pitch in to help.. Serious times like those shows you who's who in your life..

No. It's incredibly selfish of people to allow their loved ones to suffer through all that. I'm a nurse as well and it PISSES me off that people do these kinds of things. What kind of life do you think that person is living? They're a shell of their former self. Not easy in the slightest, not even kind of, even with an army of professionals.

But it's not my family. :manny:

The flip side of that is their “consciousness” doesn’t exist anymore so they wouldn’t feel anything. I’d imagine that’s as painless as you can get.

Nah its all good. I look at it as a sign of character. Love was never there if you can't just fully heal after the death of your spouse. Sure, it's good to move on but breh :dwillhuh:...take a minute to live before you jump into another situation. Marriage is sacred but it's not treated like such, especially nowadays.

Now my stepfather on the other hand was always a despicable piece of shyt. I could go into a long session, but its not really welcomed in a thread concerning X. Lets just say that I beat him at his own game:

  • Being a better father
  • Being a better husband
  • Being a better writer

Thanks man, family is a touchy subject for me :pachaha:

I hope DMX's family makes a decision that they can live with.
