We've had this discussion before. It's extremely difficult (maybe even impossible) to make a game legitimately scary without a scarcity of ammunition or options for defense. Limiting ammo and health means you can make enemies that aren't bullet sponges (which immediately eliminates the fear element). Look at all the demons you fought in Doom. That game COULD have been just as fun AND horrifying if they minimized the amounts of enemies on screen at once and limited ammo more. It gets to a point where every encounter is an excercise in dumping all of your ammo and strafing. It's a fun game, but isn't the least bit scary.

I haven't heard anyone describe the most recent doom as "scary".
Even on hard you go through that game with more than enough ammo and weapons to crush any encounter. I get that that sounds weird given the location of the game and its enemies.
Its one of the best games this gen but I wouldn't recommend to someone looking for a "horror" experience like what we got with the original silent hill, fatal frame, clock tower, resident evil 1, etc.

Im not following you.
I didnt say anything about whether or not doom has ever been a horror game.
It seems like you're catching the tail end of the conversation.
I'm explaining to Mowgli that it's difficult to make a video game legitimately scary if the player consistently has an abundance of ammo and never really feels a sense of danger.
That's not to say that it has to be a run and hide simulator but I think it's best for horror games to be limited in terms of weapons and ammo.

I recommend trying the demo in VR first.
The biggest I problem I see with PSVR is that as a player, I can't pin point what games will make me dizzy and which ones won't.
I can play Drive Club VR for hours on end without feeling the least bit dizzy. Playstation VR worlds has a street luge game that almost made me throw up within 10 seconds.
It would be a shame to pay $60 for a game with the intention of playing it on PSVR and finding out you don't have the stomach for it.
In my VR playthrough of the demo I was able to get through the demo but towards the end I started to feel motion sickness kicking in a little.

Nobody that played on grounded would say this.

You played on a casual mode, that's the difference.
:what: that goes for most games. most of us don't play our games on the hardest difficulty. besides, you are arguing something else entirely. last of us is not extremely unique. it's a 3rd person, shooting, escort mission.

RE7 supposedly has a 15 hour campaign. (I feel like that's short but I don't remember how long the other RE games are)
I'll be doing my first play through entirely with the PSVR. I'm going in with the expectation of only playing an hour at a time.
