I wasn't here when the MAGA shyt popped off but I agree discourse generally got worse around the internet during that time. If yall saying thecoli was under siege I'll take your word for it. Permanently closing the blinds and hiding under the bed doesn't seem like a much of a solution though. To my previous point everyone at some point needed to register. I see this theory of "agents" making their way in floated a lot in TLR. Are these actual people posting in bad faith or brehs we just disagree with? Because I see cac/00n as some sorta catchall insult lol at this point, the way it's so freely thrown around.

i don't blame them one bit for closing registration. they could make a verification system and junior poster set up, yeah, but even then that's barely worth it for a site this size. smaller sites with a fraction of the population close up all the time to protect their community. its nothing to hold against them.

, those same 'black gamers' were copping pleas for the privilege of being stepped on time after time after time after time. before gaf even went to shyt, a significant part of their hiphop crowd was already stretched between SOHH/Boxden/Coli anyways. so it wasn't even a thing for them to get up and move - they were already here and guys will say as much.when i put up the BCT with two other guys, that was when the bullshyt all came to the surface. and we dealt with it for years, started legit communities that are still alive a decade after the fact, started podcasts, pushed individual projects, etc. we did all kinds of shyt at GAF. motherfukkers don't even remember that the real pic community was something we started. but when reset came up, most of the hardest working ppl in that community were fed up before shyt the fan and the opportunists and lames that never had anything to say when they were getting shyt on by their favorite white people jumped at the chance to headline the community at the next site.

so because the original BCT thread took off, brought together a lot of folks, and was one of the fastest growing communities on the site - it inspired a lot other similar joints. and because we got more than our fair share of bullshyt for simply making an ongoing discussion more visible to say the least, some of the moderation took offense to the request to actually do their fukking jobs and stop harassment. that led to feelings getting hurt by bad faith cornballs, lames, and ambitious victims and the typical response? merge all the latin, asian, black, and the white people whofeelleftout joints together.
and even after we went through getting our own channels separate from the site established, remaking shyt, etc - motherfukkers were still acting like it was a privilege and that some of us were just 'angry for no reason'. and my biggest mistake at the time while pushing through most of that and getting people back on the same page was thinking that giving ground and being polite about it would allow for more freedom in the long term.

Damn you said a lot here. I remember the GAF BCT. Was legitimately really fukking good. And I recall a podcast of some sort I listened to as well. I think it was like 4 brehs? It's crazy I forgot all about that. Some of your grievances seem personal so I can't speak on those. Sucks you feel your contributions got shat on. its not personal. shyts what happened with no exaggerations - i'm not even going into details and even getting to the real personal shyt aimed at myself or others
im downplaying stuff if anything. from direct harassment, people getting sued, to users being doxxed in the big migration, etc. there's plenty of wild shyt that doesn't get spoken on anymore. everyone who left doesn't really look back. its more a realization that reset/gaf ain't the center of anything and damn sure shouldn't be a measuring stick either

So if the argument is that brehs over there are all caught up in some sorta Get Out experiment, you immediately take out a good chunk of the threads/content that gets made here.
