this is more for academics to deal with. when i was in college, i had course work in philosophy, psychology, and anthropology that gave me a framework to analyze nature vs nurture and gave me awareness of ways of living that are not common in 21st century america. When a person says they're a woman I'm thinking genitalia not some mental picture they have of their role in society. If a girl is a tomboy she's still a girl even if she doesn't identify with what society says feminine should be. The same way I can't say my mental image and role in society is a white man while my skin is brown I look at them saying they're the opposite sex from what they were given and mutilating their bodies the same.
The fact that I was born with a penis isn't some life defining thing for who I am. To me it's like saying I have brown eyes.
Seems like they're splitting hairs to try and accommodate some discomfort.
sex is constant in humans - across all space and time, our species has been dominated by males and females with a very small amount of intersexed people. however, in some places, and over many different time periods, there have been more than 2 genders recognized by some cultures. in particular, some native american and pacific islander tribes have been known to have at least 3 genders.
still doesnt mean you have to go along with whatever a trans person is saying, but the subject is deeper than splitting hairs.
