ACG on youtube, one of VERY few game reviews I'll always check out if I'm interested in the game
ACG and Gameranx are the only two reviewers that actually keep it real about the games. No payola or none of that. Just honest reviews.
CDPR is a transphobic company. It's time we stop making excuses for them.
“Welp, I just found out that my boyfriend preordered Cyberpunk 2077, even though I'm pretty sure I've discussed CDPR's transphobia throughout several meals that we've had together.
Suffice it to say, I don't think we'll be doing anything sexual for a little while. But I'm considering what material actions I might get him to take; I've been looking on twitter for some trans folks' gofundmes he could donate to. God this whole week is going to be a fukking shytstorm.”
They are actually anti-trans. Some of you brehs are just being dishonest here. It's not just their misrepresentation, but their forward-facing public relations twitter account has, in the past, posted a lot of anti-trans things. And then there's that bigoted cosplayer they were boosting.wait until the harry potter game comes out and don't LET it actually be a good and popular game. That entire forum gonna burn to the ground.
they're going this hard over a game that tried to actually be inclusive to trans people even if they handled it badly their intention was good.
imagine a game where the creator of the source material is actually anti-trans
it's funny how they act like neogaf is absolute evil, when half those muthafukkas used to post there a few years ago
I think, the problem is, that while their concerns are valid (whether you agree with them, fundamentally or not) but the angst and "join us" or else attitude they have is completely rooted in white privilege and its ironic because this is one of the reasons it rubs other minorities the wrong way.
And I say valid in that, you don't have to be LBQT+ to realize there is often either not enough representation or mis representation of minorities in media.
But, I cant help but feel like Chapelle said it best, a lot of the fast adoption of LBQT+ friendly agenda is more so because it has white male empathy (be it first or second hand) and so it gets pushed. We see it time and time again that America doesn't take a problem seriously unless it affects white people. Now, this is not to say that they (LBQT+) don't deserve equal rights and fair treatment.
No. I am saying the adamant push for "allies" and "hivemind" mentality or else is just par for the course when you're dealing with white people, because they are use to getting their way, even when coming from the stance of a vocal minority.
I don't feel its often reciprocated, in earnest , towards other races unless it can be co-opted like say BLM.
The reason I feel like this is because in order to lift other races up, and have true equality, you'd have to destroy the same privilege/system that allows them to advance at the rate they do.
And rarely will you see people on that side of the fence go that far when discussing things.
Conversely if you are giving these people money it’s not out of the question to expect them to behave as if black people even exist.Breh I like your post but there's only 1 thing I don't agree with: This idea of minority representation in media. (and this isn't aimed at you specifically, just a general point )
I do not care if people that look like me are not in every type of media created by people that aren't black. Why? Because that gives incentive for us to create our own shyt. When black comedians couldn't get white approval on a large scale, Russel Simmons tapped the underground comedy clubs to create Def Jam Comedy and it blew up, which later paved the way for Comic View.
If you need representation to feel comfortable with something I think you're living in a way that you'll never be happy. Most people have other stuff on their minds and just don't care that much.
Now if they are purposely misrepresenting the culture I'm with it but this idea we need to be visible in the minds of non-black media is nonsense. Don't like it? Create your own lane.
Conversely if you are giving these people money it’s not out of the question to expect them to behave as if black people even exist.
I understand it don’t have to be a black lead or a black story, but lots of times they seemingly go out of there way to exclude brown skin or even worse use brown skin as a prop.
Representation does matter, and it’s gotta start from the ground up. Can’t just throw some black characters in the game. Hire some black artists and writers.
Some people chose to vocally fight for change. I ain’t mad at emI don't like the black prop character stuff either. When they throw us in as a checkbox I usually write that piece of media off.
But if I give someone money for their creation I don't expect them to do anything. I gave them that money knowing what I'm getting. My dollars are my "vote" on whether I support the product or not. If they don't have what I like I just don't buy and go find something else to support.
Worst site on the internet
I don't pay attention to it, but I understand there was a shift after everyone left. never the less, it's still a site where they talk about video games, so I don't fault ACG if he posts there...have you been on neogaf recently? It's an actual alt-right shythole.
