i think it's more that DC didn't base these movies on ANY of what you just brought up

marvel has been laying the groundwork since 2008... with about 10 plus movies so far.. and directly tying in things from the movies, into about 4-5 tv shows

again... that's what stan lee was referring to in "dc has a lot of catching up to do"

now dc came in an crushed buildings with the new batman trilogy....... and took all that momentum and............................................ threw it in the fukking bushes :francis:

didn't tie a damn thing from those movies into a single other fukking thing :mindblown:

then had zero plans of tying shyt in..... just said "ok we did good with those 3... lets make :cape:"

mind you this is now in the middle of marvel showing them the exact blueprint to follow.... they was like nah.... we'll give you about 3 easter eggs and that's gonna be a wrap for that

then it became :ohhh: you mean marvel is actually making money with this shyt and making all their shyt connect... you know.... like comic books :lupe: maybe we can try that :jbhmm:

the very next immediate move was to cram a brand new, bring nothing from the other billion dollar, oscar winning, critical acclaimed, batman into the fold... stuff him in there with superman who got 1 damn movie to show out... and shoehorn in aquaman and wonderwoman who nobody ever saw in even a damn cameo.... and call it the DC Universe :snoop:

i been shytting on marvel and their same ass movie for 10 years asses too... but at least they have given you 10 years and 10 movies to build you up on it... so at this point you like "fukk it, i gotta finish it now" :manny:

dc just trying to leapfrog the comp by throwing the A listers together... forgetting that the next couple movies are about to be the B-C listers... they putting the main event on first and then showing the undercard :what:

then they still haven't even tied this shyt up and around to the rest of the tv's they had out before, after dropping the ball of tying them into the previous movies.... it's fukking mind boggling... and that's all dude was trying to say... is there are a few execs up there saying "you know if this shyt ain't about to do some avengers numbers, we might have to push some shyt back cause we have no cards left" :mjcry:
The best way to think about it is how Justice League animated series first started. All seven were introduced in the first 2 episodes but the point of view started from Batman and Superman. This movie is pretty much starting earlier and begins when Superman and Batman first met. I'll give them a chance though it's the goat superheros on the big screen for the first time :ehh::manny:

The allusions can still be there and are still there in some cases. The X men movies still deal with discrimination obviously or at least they have. I know there's a subplot in the new one of mutants still being persecuted and hunted down for being different and not getting fair trials, etc. But just like in comic books, not all of the shyt is overt. Some of it is in the background, some of it is layered in, and in some cases, it doesn't exist at all. But Dark Knight made a billion dollars and it's got a lot going on with it and says a lot
Heather ledger dying is responsible for that. Let's be serious. It wasn't that damn deep.

So you're saying a movie that even the filmmaker has come out and said is a response to terrorism and torture and poses questions about how far are you willing to go to catch a terrorist and whether anyone comes out unscathed in that battle isn't that deep? It's clearly an allegory for the whole war on terror breh. There's even a huge plot point of batman tapping the phones of every Gotham citizen in order to catch the bad guy. Batman decides to enact the patriot act unilaterally

the film maker ALWAYS says their movie's are deep

no shyt bane was a fukking terrorist... that's what i mean... any idiot can figure out what's going on there

damn interstellar is deep... dark knight rises was not that damn deep... you can see exactly what they are doing and getting at on the first try

what made it that much deeper than ironman doing whatever he had to, to protect the world from aliens... then ultron being "deep" with talking about how we need to change to truly change the world... blah blah blah

or captain america fighting against robert redford trying to have military arms to watch the world's population and kill those who would later become harmful... blah blah blah

or civil war and the fight to register superheros... or x-men or blah blah blah

this fake deep comic book shyt is EXACTLY what these execs are referring to.... stop trying to be so damn deep and just make some fun shyt that will have kids and their parents buy the shyt

while you out here trying to be super deep with your top 2 characters... marvel is shytting out thor movies that do 600 million and ant-man movies that do 500 mil

again... they want to set it up where cyborg can have a standalone movie and do 500 mil.... not to where they getting oscars for deep movies

Breh it can be both. They realize writing for multiple audiences on multiple levels helps everyone and keeps everyone happy. For the kids they get the fun comic book shyt and the adults get some meatier things to chew on and deal with. So for a kid it's batman vs joker and explosions and bank heists. For an adult who understands the post 9/11 world they get the allegories in dark knight and they get to have fun with it. Shyt doesn't have to be all one or the other.

There's nothing wrong with guardians being a fun movie about space and a space opera but there's nothing wrong with the winter soldier being a great action flick with something to say about surveillance and the current state of governments

why can't you have both a fun movie AND a movie that has layers?
This is an EXTREMELY difficult balance to achieve. It's like making a Hip Hop album that' 'keeps it real' and goes plat multiple times. Just easier said than done, when people do pull it off it is amazing and should be acknowledged like TDK.

y'all are right.. you can have both and pull it off well

i guess what i'm saying is the execs don't want to hear that shyt.. they are a little fearful of joe public wanted to see an entire universe built off this... where marvel has been built off campy and fun

i personally liked everything dc so far... man of steel was a good movie to me and i would put it above 90% of the marvel character movies.. but i can also look at sheer numbers and say that marvel is able to shyt out characters and do numbers, and i understand where dc execs are a little worried they won't

Well DC should do their own thing. There's room for something that's campy and fun and serious and thought provoking while still fun. If the Warner execs want something easy to digest, well that's the risk they're running with having every director get to put out their vision for what they want their movie to be rather than having an overarching vision. The positive is that you get different visions so that each character feels different enough and their flicks feel different enough. Batman v Superman Law and Order might not be the easiest flick to digest and might not be "fun" in that way, but wonder woman might or cyborg might or flash might, etc. Now I'm betting that the movie makes what they want since without batman, man of steel clocked 700 worldwide. If the Latino Review report is correct and its actually them just being unsure how the public will react to it because it's not an easy flick to digest, that's the risk you take and we'll go from there

The Truth
I love this argument :dead: those did better than everyone and ultron still made over a billion. Anything to try and demean what they accomplished :mjlol: don't let batman and friends make less than j world or F7 or I'm going in :russ: especially if it's less than ultron
And the main reason AOU came close to being a disappointment was because of how soft and PG13 they made Ultron.

Everything else was pretty much your typical Marvel movie aside from Winter Soldier, Deadpool, and a couple others.

They changed the format of the Oscars because The Dark Knight was snubbed for Best Picture but to you it was just some movie :mjlol:

they don't cross the line into full blown camp though. iron man and winter soldier are both fun movies that manage to tell a greater story underneath what's happening on the surface. they're wholesome entertainment for people of all ages.
