i don't think any of these movies will "flop"

flop would mean breaking dead even or doing less than.... with international sales and dvd/bluray sales... hardly any movie really flops

but what wb/dc wants is what marvel has. they want to be able to drop the shyttiest of characters, that nobody cares about, and still come out doing 500 mil when it's said and done

then when they put the A listers together, do a billy or damn near that

what they definitely do not want... is their top tier characters doing 600 mil.... cause where do you go up from there? lets say bvs gets terrible reviews and fans hate it/are disappointed and it does 700 mil.. well what's the next step.. you already used up BOTH your most popular characters and didn't even crack a billion.. what you think you gonna drop 2-3 more lower movies and then put it all together and reach that??

and this isn't in some bubble... nah.... while you're doing your subpar numbers... your direct rival is out here breaking record upon record... and about to unleash civil war and infinity war 1 & 2, right along side whatever else you got coming

that's what these execs are worried about.... i don't think anyone is scared they will flop and do 200 mil or something.... they are afraid by this time next year... the fans will be :scust: whenever they see a DC logo at the beginning of a trailor... remember this is supposed to match marvel's 10-15-20 year movie plan

this is why stan lee said dc had a lot of catching up to do and dc tried to skip the damn near 10 years of work being laid down for Infinity War

That same theory was once said for Marvel when they had the animated DVDs on lock before DC came in 2007 and ran them out of there a couple of years later. Even on TV, DC owns it with Arrow, Flash, and even Legends of Tomorrow.

I can see that when DC gets a hold of things, and start to put epic sagas together like the multiverse on the big screen, is when people will see the potential of DC being unleashed.

People can forgive Marvel for making :scust: films like Ironman 2 and 3 and the Thor series and Antman and the second Avengers film, simply cause of Marvel. DC doesn't have the luxury of that because people still stuck in the 90s mentality that DC is corny and Marvel is edgy.

i think it's more that DC didn't base these movies on ANY of what you just brought up

marvel has been laying the groundwork since 2008... with about 10 plus movies so far.. and directly tying in things from the movies, into about 4-5 tv shows

again... that's what stan lee was referring to in "dc has a lot of catching up to do"

now dc came in an crushed buildings with the new batman trilogy....... and took all that momentum and............................................ threw it in the fukking bushes :francis:

didn't tie a damn thing from those movies into a single other fukking thing :mindblown:

then had zero plans of tying shyt in..... just said "ok we did good with those 3... lets make :cape:"

mind you this is now in the middle of marvel showing them the exact blueprint to follow.... they was like nah.... we'll give you about 3 easter eggs and that's gonna be a wrap for that

then it became :ohhh: you mean marvel is actually making money with this shyt and making all their shyt connect... you know.... like comic books :lupe: maybe we can try that :jbhmm:

the very next immediate move was to cram a brand new, bring nothing from the other billion dollar, oscar winning, critical acclaimed, batman into the fold... stuff him in there with superman who got 1 damn movie to show out... and shoehorn in aquaman and wonderwoman who nobody ever saw in even a damn cameo.... and call it the DC Universe :snoop:

i been shytting on marvel and their same ass movie for 10 years asses too... but at least they have given you 10 years and 10 movies to build you up on it... so at this point you like "fukk it, i gotta finish it now" :manny:

dc just trying to leapfrog the comp by throwing the A listers together... forgetting that the next couple movies are about to be the B-C listers... they putting the main event on first and then showing the undercard :what:

then they still haven't even tied this shyt up and around to the rest of the tv's they had out before, after dropping the ball of tying them into the previous movies.... it's fukking mind boggling... and that's all dude was trying to say... is there are a few execs up there saying "you know if this shyt ain't about to do some avengers numbers, we might have to push some shyt back cause we have no cards left" :mjcry:

I've had a bad feeling about this movie from the get go (and no I'm not a Marvel or DC "Stan" :mjlol:) For my sake I hope I'm wrong but it feels like they're trying to shove in/introduce too many characters. Avengers 2 barely got it right and they only introduced bout 4 new main characters. This one has like 7 or 8

interesting article from latino review. my bad if its already been posted.

The LR Scoop On The Apparent Turmoil At DC FILMS Over BATMAN V SUPERMAN

For those that haven't read this Latino Review basically said that Snyder made wine and the studio would have preferred water. We know Disney prefers water. I was hoping Warner would choose to take a little less in box office and deliver more in story and if that's what Snyder did then that's great for me :manny:

let the speculation continue :russ:

I've always said I'm not sure how a 13 y/o sits down with the Nolan trilogy and enjoys it.

When I was 13 I was watching shyt a hell of a lot more complicated then the Nolan trilogy but I understand most 13-year olds are stupid and soft now. The times we live in :ld:

Age of Ultron is "getting it right"? The movie was very average, polarizing at best and Jurassic World and Fast 7 made more money than it. People talk about all this shyt about laying the groundwork and you got dinosaurs and Dom and Brian doing more then they did.. All that "groundwork" shyt doesn't mean anything if the films are starting to become filler and that's what Age of Ultron was. Filler.

Also, they are not introducing 7-8 characters in this. Batman and Superman will take up 90% of the film. Wonder Woman is a cameo.

People like @The Devil's Advocate bringing Deadpool into this discussion, what does Deadpool have to do with how Disney has handled their properties? Deadpool is a FOX property. The same FOX that I'm sure you and others in here (because I've read the comments) has said time and time again should sell the rights back to Disney for all X-Men related characters..

Really? You think FOX is going to be selling off Deadpool anytime soon? :mjlol:

because you idiot... it's marvel

i'm not sure where y'all get this belief, that joe schmoe and his dumbass kids, really give two fukks if it's fox or wb or anybody else

this is DC trying to create what MARVEL is doing.... oh and if you didn't get the memo... spidey is coming to marvel movie studio in exchange for shyt... so don't ever think money won't talk, and fox and marvel won't do the same thing one day

but back to what i've been saying... and what the point of this thread is

DC wants to do what MARVEL is doing... not the damn studio fool... the comic book company full of characters that has about 20 movies out that all have turned into money making franchises just by starting off with the words "marvel comics"

we are living in a time where ant man is out here doing superman numbers.... lets slow that down... antman.... is..... doing.... superman.... numbers.....

if you think the execs over at wb and dc aren't sitting there in fukking bewilderment... hoping, wishing and praying for that type of success for their F level characters... you're tripping

they pulled this DCU out of their ass at the last minute just to do what marvel is doing... and obviously haven't got the results they wanted so far... and are praying they get the results so when they make cyborg the movie... it can do thor type numbers and crank out 3 movies from it

:dwillhuh: Sony made a deal with Disney to co-produce Spider-Man movies moving forward because they didn't like where their Spider-Man series was headed. It topped out at $700M which doesn't sound bad but they expected a lot more out of it and it also had bad worth of mouth and bad reviews.

Deadpool has great reviews and just made $150M over the holiday weekend off a movie with a very moderate budget. Why would FOX even entertain the idea? Why are you continuously trying to lump in FOX movie properties with Disney's movie properties? It doesn't matter that Deadpool is a Marvel character within the Marvel comics universe because Disney is making no money off his movies and they are also trying to streamline their movie universe with their comic universe which means eventually Deadpool will be placed on the backburner just as the X-Men have been..

I always said that Marvel insults their viewers low key by conditioning them not to strive to be better. Dumbing down their dialogue and storylines to make the most $ is what they bank on.

my god

this is the coli.... where we care about shyt like this

do you think the millions of people going to see a "new marvel movie" give two fukks about what studio made it? no... they do not

go walk around the street and ask people who made x-men.... promise you they'll say "marvel" or "i don't know"

this is not a thread about which movie studio is doing better

this is a thread about executives wanting the branding that marvel has... where they can drop a movie with a marvel character and the shyt sells 500 million minimum

OF COURSE they know bvs will sell... and batman will sell... and superman will sell

what they do not know is if 5-8 characters down the line will sell, based solely on the fact that it says "dc comics" at the beginning of the trailer...

y'all really need to stop relating things to the coli... on the coli young thug is super popular... in real life he's doing 16k... on the coli we know what studios release what movies... in the real world people don't know shyt except "oh shyt another marvel movie coming"

I always said that Marvel insults their viewers low key by conditioning them not to strive to be better. Dumbing down their dialogue and storylines to make the most $ is what they bank on.
exactly... it's not like i'm stanning for marvel... they make shyt movies too... out of the 20... about 5 were good/great

but they know how to appeal to joe dirt and his dumbass family.... so they can literally put 4 shyt characters on the screen and slap "marvel comics" and it's automatically going to do numbers

DC wants that.... DC is scared they aren't going to obtain that...

why is this so hard for people to grasp

After The Dark Knight, it kinda hard to dumb down comic book stories, especially in the books themselves where they tell  stories that's unheard of anywhere else.
