Slavery affected South America and the Caribbean, and Africa also.... since there are illegal immigrants here from those countries, shouldn't use the phrase "none of them had 400 years oppression"

Plus some of the American slaves escaped to Caribbean countries, so they have descendants and family there also.

The new party has to be UNAPOLOGETICALLY African. And that would mean no open arms for liberals, bi-racials, c00ns, conservative blacks, etc. No fem or LGBT issues on the forefront. It would be extremely hard to find enough black people that simply aren't afraid to openly join such a party. They still have to work and live amongst/under whites which is the greater issue at hand... man, it would be really tough to get a real party going for our very best interests.

We don't have the numbers to create an exclusively black political party that could could shift national elections without joining into a larger third party. We'd need to organize into our party in order to bring our own clear cut demands to them and make sure it's a part of the platform. They would have to fix broad issues like income inequality, housing costs, unemployment, mass incarceration, education, etc. These are issues that hit us the hardest but don't need to be framed as "black issues." If they can solve that then they can address group specific issues like police brutality, female income disparity, and gay stuff. Nothing will get done at the federal level without some form of a coalition. We don't have to care about the feminists or LBGT's. We just need to ensure that we have a seat at the table and get to eat just as well as they do instead of getting the scraps.

We're pretty much screwed for the time being though

You overlooked where I said tracing the descendants of slaves that left to the islands, when they were leaving America. Or left to Canada... or left period. Some of their descendants may or may not have came back thru legal or illegal immigration.

5000 slaves escaped to Mexico... what about their descendants who may have returned.

Many slaves linked up with Seminole indians and they escaped and moved to the Bahamas.

All Im saying is, its deeper than just the 50states.
