Sorry but I do think this is the flex you intended :pachaha: Some if this shyt has me busting out laughing

And trust me I really hate when dudes shyt on the elders but you can’t lump all these players together. SOME of their games did not age well

Wilt- transcends any era. A ridiculous athlete, was out hittin fadeaways in the 60s

Baylor- :ehh: Translates pretty well.

But Russell? :patrice: Cousy? :dead:

This is why I always say all time great twlk MUST be about resume, career, NOT eye test or who you think got the most talent. Bc evolution is real and if it’s about talent then you’ll have gen z lists with T Mac in the top 10. People on this sub constantly make this mistake. We talkin all time greats and cats will say ‘Giannis ain’t got no bag….or be fixated on Kobe’s style and say he’s top 3 when his actual career and resume says he’s top 10 range. It’s gotta be about resume

So basically go by who dominated their respective era the most?

TYRONE GA!
Cannot wait to finish this. People thinking that those greats from the pre Magic/Bird era wouldn't dominate is such a casual take.
Players from that era's games were almost exclusively fundamental, it had to be, by way of the rules.
AND FUNDAMENTALS TRANSCEND ERAS. That goes for any sport

nikkaz would be called for travels and carrys left and right if you transported them back to that era. :laff:

Props to OP for this video.

I can't imagine anyone seeing Wilt's footwork or Russell's BBIQ and anticipation and thinking, nah, if we dropped these fellas in 2023 and gave them modern sports medicine and nutrition, they wouldn't figure it out.

Yes, dudes today can do a Eurostep. Give Oscar Robertson time to figure that out in his prime, and he'd do it effectively too. I'm certain with practice and a change in mindset, Wilt could also hit 38% from three like most big men are expected to in this day.

The goat poster has returned!

You are a national treasure.

Thank you for your work.

For newer posters and lurkers, dan is indeed the man. He is responsible for a significant portion of wilt footage online
The creator of that channel is a Coli poster? :krs:

Much respect and love sir. That's been one of my favorite sports channels for a good couple of years. The research and effort behind it is incredible. This latest video was spot on too and much needed. Really well done. Loved that Westbrook pop-up as well lmao.

I would rep you ten times if I could. :salute:

I actually couldnt rep him this time because I didnt rep enough people since the last time i repped him

This video is phenomenal. Gotta love Embiid talking about skills then bumbling a bounce pass to a stationary target right after

The Arsenal
Fact 1: Players those days got measured for their height barefoot. Instead of today when they are measured with shoes on, which adds to their height. So by common NBA media logic, those "'6'8" centers would be 6'10 ft tall. Normal height for a Center in the modern NBA. Shaq is in fact 6'11 in real height

Fact 2
: Wilt and Russell playing with short guys is in fact a myth. Here's a list of players in Wilt's era he played against 6'10 and up

Kareem Abdul Jabbar: 7'2"
Dennis Awtrey: 6'11"
Walt Bellamy: 6'11"
Tom Boerwinkle: 7'0"
Nate Bowmen: 6'11"
Mel Counts: 7'0"
Walter Dukes: 7'0"
Jim Eakins: 6'11"
Ray Felix: 6'11"
Hank Finkel: 7'0"
Artis Gilmore: 7'2"
Swede Halbrook: 7'3"
Reggie Harding: 7'0"
Bob Lanier: 6'11"
Jim McDaniels: 6'11"
Otto Moore: 6'11"
Dave Newmark: 7'0"
Rich Niemann: 7'0"
Billy Paultz: 6'11"
Craig Raymond: 6'11"
Elmore Smith: 7'0"
Chuck Share: 6'11"
Ronald Taylor: 7'1"
Nate Thurmond: 6'11"
Walt Wesley: 6'11"

Fact 3: The low number of teams plays into Russell's advantage. The NBA in the 50s - early 70s had 1/3 of the numbers of players they do now. So the competition was stiffer. Ever seen the lineup in the all star games of those days? About 3 hall of famers on each team. Wilt would go against 3 hall of famers a night, no 90s Clippers type teams in that era. Imagine Durant, Wade, Kobe on the same team playing against Lebron, Carmelo, Chris Paul on another team

:mjpls:
didn't they change this like 5 years ago? i remember one training camp every rockets player came in an inch or so shorter.

Yes they did, and it isn’t exact that past players were all barefoot measured it was a mixed bag on accuracy back then too BUT on average they tended to be more like how Durant is (underbilled). Under billing today is a huge rarity. For example West and Russell for the longest time were billed as 6-2 and 6-9. Barefoot West is closer to 6-4 and Russell was 6-9.75. Baylor always has been listed 6-5 and he’s 6-5.5 barefoot, Oscar always been listed 6-5 and he’s 6-4.75 barefoot. All these guys would list 1 or 2 inches taller than their 60s rosters had they played from the 80s and up when agents were really big on promoting and hyping new talents I think the big contract potential for rookies is what really made list info become a big deal. Remember Ralph Sampson, 7-4? He was really about 7-1 barefoot. Someone asked about shoes and I instantly thought of spencer hawes showing up to camp with a 2.25 inch lift so he’d be called a 7 footer. They called his shoes “hawes heels”. He was 6-10 but that doesn’t carry the same value as calling him a “7 footer”. Yeah the NBA did try to crack down on this recently and I hope it stays that way. I collected like 17 examples of barefoot data on centers from that era and compared it with todays barefoot data and the difference was like 0.7”. Basically near as makes no difference. I’ll try to dig that up and post it later.

based off what wilt routinely shot under 50 % from the free through line in his own era he going to magically turn into a above average 3 point shooter :mjlol:

Giannis is a more perimeter oriented player with insane work ethic can't developed an above average 3 point shoot
