I DONT SEE ANY GUARDS HERE

I had a feeling someone would post this clip.
Look at the shots he's taking -
He's running across the lane with hooks, or shooting jumpshots, fading away from the rim. Rarely ever is he actually backing down a player and getting to the rim.
He's playing away from it. Malone was not someone that bullied players in the post. That wasn't his game.
The majority of those posessions is strictly him shooting fadeaways. Even the commentary is talking about it:
"Karl Malone with that familar fadeaway"
"Fadeaway, Karl Malone"
"He gets it in the post, he turns, he shoots"
"When you've got a guy like Karl Malone who can hit a fadeaway 18fter"
"Malone, fadeaway on Rodman"
"Malone, fadeaway, he hits that shot"
"Malone, again, with the fadeaway"
"Fallaway from Karl Malone"
"Karl Malone, the fallaway, the 15fter"
"Malone, leaning, turning and jumpshooting"
"Malone, turn, twist, jumpshot"
"Fadeaway, Malone"
"Malone has a copyright on that turnaround jumper"
Thanks for proving my point.
Shaq was an anamoly. He was really the only guy who was bullying people with his size like that. Then you had players like Chuck, to a lesser degree, who weren't necessarily bullying defenders, but slowly, methodically backing down defenders eating up the shot clock. Malone was NOT playing like a superhero or this mythical 90s big man that's largely built on the image of Shaq.
He was playing like LaMarcus Aldridge, and I dare hope to God nobody ever claims LMA was playing like a superhero.
WHAT YOU SAID

WHAT YOU SAID
"Almost the entirety of his shot diet was scoring in the PnR and/or on face-up possessions."
ANY POST MOVE AFTER THAT
IS A WASTE OF TIME
Then you proceed to post a clip with possessions of him shooting fadeaways in the post. Ultimately proving my point. He'd go up against someone like Chet, and instead of backing him down all the way to the rim, he'd shoot a 16fter.

a goal a homerun a threenah they were skilled players too.
But yeah, in any sport people like physicality. Even in a sport like soccer that has a rep for being soft and having floppers......the super physical defenders are the ones who are coveted and praised. In baseball people used to LOVE watching brehs run into the catcher.
you clearly never watched Malone play if you think he wasn't banging in the post.I can tell that white boy never even watched Malone play, talking about "battling and banging in the post every night.", when he did anything but that.
Almost the entirety of his shot diet was scoring in the PnR and/or on face-up possessions.
The only time he'd ever use that muscle was to bully small guards.
He'd go up against someone like Chet, and instead of backing him down all the way to the rim, he'd shoot a 16fter.

Stop the cap.you clearly never watched Malone play if you think he wasn't banging in the post.
His elbows used to be lethal weapons back then, trying to move the goalpost say he only did it during mismatches or had more moves in his repertoire beyond a dropstep and dunk won't work either. you can bang in the post and do a post fade too
