I remember playing Phantasy Star Online in 2000 and never had problems with my dial up connection. It amazed me how smooth it would play games online but just downloading pictures and music when surfing the web could be a chore LOL!

Some of yall probably never really had to deal with that.

The noise would snitch on you if you tried to sneak online late night cause it was loud as hell. Kids these days don't know how nice they have it. Internet porn was laughable back then cause the modems were so damn slow all you could really get was pictures unless you left it downloading overnight. Online piracy was MIRC and downloading stuff in 60 something parts off a chat room bot server.

My parents were cheap as hell. We had the 28.8K modem when everybody else was rocking 56K. Kids today would lose their damn minds at those speeds online.

You could alter the modem init string not to make the noise. I did that for late night computing sessions.

Christ you just brought it back. I haven't thought about AOHELL in over 20 years.

Word. I had like 20 different progs. shyt that would freeze your computer, sign you out of AOL, send you like a million instant messages at once, do crazy drawings in the chat room. I had one that would auto IM everybody in the room requesting credit card info. That's how I kept on line. People were so gullible.

The Tomb Raider/Nude Code rumor

www.ohhla.com To find out what Silkk The Shocker was saying & even THEY had a hard time deciphering his words. But they had the lyrics to just about every hip hop song you could think of.

To access WWF on AOL it was Keyword: Superstars. Once you entered it, you heard that recording of Vince McMahon saying "Welcome To The WWF On America Online!"

Having this song like 2 years before they put the new version on Memphis Bleek's album.

Downloading a song on Napster from somebody with a T1 connection was Heaven compared to getting one from somebody with 28K.
