I wouldn't go that far, Jay is definitely better but Em is in the neighborhood (when he focuses or is on drugs :ld:)

I don't think so. Eminem is HIGHLY overrated. Hes talented, but I personally believe he doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same conversations as the all time great MCs. If that man was black he would be looked at in the same way as a Pharaoh Monch. Talented but not an all time great.

What is there really to expound on? Jay-Z, born Shawn Corey Carter, December 4, 1969 (lies), is a much better MC than Eminem. Name a quality that you believe a great MC should be highly proficient at, and most likely Jay is better than Eminem at it, Norman. All that rippity rappity "technical" sh!t is for the birds.
nah em has always been lyrical. Jay was on that rippity rappity shyt before he was shown the way by Big L.:smugfavre:

he also said he ranks eminem up there with "jay z, biggie and nas" startin' at the 1:15 mark

I mean...yeah. Like 99% of rappers and fans and critics rank Em that high.

Em doesn't poll quite as well in The Land of the Retards - trolly racist message boards. But whaddayagonnado.

Nas still has yet to ask for that collab fade on the Mic, he had a chance and ducked

He asked em for a verse on "daugthers" but he turned it down. Probably something to with his not wanting to bring his daughter back up in his music, especially at the age where she's out and dating/fukking like Destiny.

Jay > em all day, he would probably tell you that himself. He shouted out Jay on his new record and basically said he's trying to find the passion to have the kind of career he's had.

If Jay was white he'd be Jo Jo Pellegrino :skip:

I always respect your opinion but to me that holds about as much weight as people saying Jay wouldn't be who he is if Pac and Big hadn't died. You can follow a certain logic and see it play out that way but there are so many different factors that it's pointless. If em was black he wouldn't be em...he ain't just show up like hey i'm white and I rap. You gotta put his run and his acclaim in proper perspective. You can't deny the race aspect, the sales inflation or the marketing schemes. But Em was/is talented and connected with people (mostly white, yes) in a way that made Hip Hop history. I don't know shyt about Monch besides how much I am impressed with his skillset, em went beyond that and became an endearing figure to his fanbase.

Now if you are on your fukk cacs this and that all together then I understand sandbaging for having that 2pac like effect for his demographic. Regardless of how much you actually fukk with his music, when we look back on the history of the game his name is going to stick out.

Doubt it. If Jay was white, AND RAPPED THE SAME WAY HE RAPPED THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER and MADE THE SAME RECORDS, he would still be heralded as one of the greats.

I don't think so. I don't see a white rapper getting over into super stardom with that content...hell Jay himself almost didn't. That would be about as likely as a black rapper getting by with the shock/comedic stuff.

Somebody Photoshop Pete Nice's face on this.

On the technical side of things, I think Em ranks up with Biggie, Nas and Hov.

It's Em's content which hold shim back from being on there level overall :yeshrug:

Em would have the same props imo, cats were trying to sign him before they knew what he looked like, most folks thought he was black initially.

Yeah the boat had been sailed on that, but around the time when the cross came out would have been perfect, especially given that song's subject matter. I'm sure Em would have hopped on that track had Nas asked.
