When people see a game with a 98 Metacritic score that implies universal accessibility.Everything here is present in the first game, except the earned fast travel. People who are complaining must not have played the first one and understood why its critically acclaimed.
Slow start, realistic plotline that slowly builds up to payoff climaxes. It all creates a memorable experience. I could tell you the story of RDR1 like I played it all yesterday and Ive only played through it once, as opposed to other games. Hell GTA5s story is less memorable, all I remember is some weird lesson on outsourcing at the end.
If the pacing is unbearable to you in this game then you shouldve did more research on what you was signing up for.
I played RDR and never finished it. I'll likely do the same here. It's not a big deal to me as I don't ever think I've completed the main story of any Rockstar open world game. That doesn't mean I don't like them just that I don't like them enough to play past 25 or so hours typically.
I'm just saying the criticism the game gets isn't undeserved. Some of what the game forces you to do may be realistic but that doesn't make it fun. Games should sacrifice realism for fun not the other way around. If they're gonna make you feed him why not make you make him go to the bathroom too? See what I'm saying? It's not total realism but it's more realistic than a video game really needs to be.
