We just saw that shyt with Seth. When he he tried to be a straight up white meat babyface nobody liked him, Now he’s one of the most over faces they have.

Booking does him no favors though.
Yep. Being a dikk got him over as a babyface, but that “aww shucks” smiley faced shyt had muhfukkas booing him lol

That save the day happy go lucky shyt only works with kids

I always liked Cody in-ring even when WWE was continually treating him like garbage before he left, but he is not a good babyface for adults.

Cody was the top babyface in AEW cutting the same promo he is now.

Then he decided to not be able to compete for the top title which put him on some Pinky and the Brain on Animaniacs shyt.

People are eventually gonna turn on a top guy who's not fighting for the top belt.

In WWE not only is he fighting for the top belt it's literally his gimmick :mjlol:

I fukked with Cody in the Legacy and the dashing gimmick. Hated Stardust lol. So to see him make this transformation, I can support it.

I didn't like Cody as recently as 2018. I thought he was a solid worker and nothing more. Then his run in the first 6 months of AEW, with the Inner Circle and then against MJF/Wardlow, was the best thing about that first 6 months of AEW and legitimately great wrestling TV and I was sold.

He delivered in WWE at Wrestlemania, then he wrestled the whole match with a torn pec a couple months later. His entrance is great, he's one of the few guys right now who makes it seem like what he's involved in is a big deal, like he cares whether he wins or loses, and isn't just doing goofy sh1t to get ironically over.

I was just thinking this. To quote the American dragon gawd on wrestling fans.

West where the Sunsets
nikka used to go by cawdy Rhodes. His first wwe run was trash ALL OF IT. Him leaving and doing Japan and ROH and finding a real character helped a lot. Now he doesn’t feel like preset wrestler number seven. I’m actually a fan now I just hate that gay ass tattoo.

LOL What? Cody is basically the same person he was when he left. He just added another nickname and dyed his hair. :dead:

He's over with the fans and is a good worker. I do think eventually they will get bored with him. As long as they don't let him overstay as champ, it is okay.

I’m not a big fan of dude like that but I think people fukk with him so heavily because he left WWE after having issues with the way he was being presented, completely reinvented himself, did the Indys/Japan and helped jumpstart AEW, and then returned to WWE a bigger star than ever before and basically forced them to put him in the position he wanted to be in the first time around

Regardless of how anyone feels about him talent wise, that’s super respectable. He bet on himself and won, now he’s reaping the benefits. That’s dope

He’s not the first example of a guy getting over outside of WWE and coming back in a better position but I can’t think of many dudes who straight up quit the company, left and became megastars, and then returned to be mania main eventers immediately without WWE having to rebuild them. He walked right back into the door and was the biggest face on the roster from the second his music hit at mania
Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley both. Brock but he probably shouldn't count.
Perception is also part of the equation. To all the work he put in outside of WWE, his perception as a talent grew ten fold. So WWE fans that don't follow other promotions saw clips of him on Twitter or other social media being presented as a big deal, and they probably read or heard discussions about the guy as if he was a big deal. So when he returns he has a whole new different vibe than before.

In a company that only "debuts" people (without going through NXT) and presents them as a big deal once every 3-5-7 years and will do everything in their power to keep them as a big deal, it's almost impossible for the crowd to not treat that wrestler like a star.

What WWE did with Cody is what they should do with a lot more people that debut or return, because it's kind of a flawless formula as long as the wrestler can cut a promo or be special/unique in the ring.
