nikka used to go by cawdy Rhodes. His first wwe run was trash ALL OF IT. Him leaving and doing Japan and ROH and finding a real character helped a lot. Now he doesn’t feel like preset wrestler number seven. I’m actually a fan now I just hate that gay ass tattoo.

I wonder if part of his reluctance to fully embrace being a heel in AEW was because he knew he wanted to go back to WWE sooner than later and wanted to save the heel turn for WWE

Fans will definitely turn on Cody simply because of how WWE books their top face. If Cena is any indication of how Cody’s run will go, and I genuinely think it will be, Cody won’t have an edge. He won’t do things that are morally compromising. He’s going to be the perfect model superstar that hugs the kids and overcomes the odds at every turn. That shyt gets old for older cats because it isn’t genuine. People aren’t like that in real life. That schtick works on kids, these people are superheroes to them… but to adults, that smiley faced goody two shoes shyt gets old quick.
So make no mistake about it, crowds will be split on him at some point. Probably 80/20ish.. but the kids will love him and his merch will move like bricks of yayo, so it is what it is.
Who knows tho, Hunter is in charge of creative so maybe he’ll let dude have an edge so that his act doesn’t grow tiresome. I doubt it tho.
