Real talk, "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" is prime for a re-make

NOT saying I EVER want to see it happen. That show is my childhood.

But, I wouldn't be surprised if they did it. Not like there's any integrity in Hollywood where a sure dollar can be made. And the name alone would carry it long enough to make some money.

Think about it.....

There's an entire group of young ppl 17(even 18) & younger who weren't even born when Fresh Prince was on-air. Which is the age group the original show was pretty much targeted for. FP was pretty much viewed as the "cool, young" sit-com. Anybody from the age of 8 on up could watch the show and be entertained. It was that universal.

Sure, the younger group of today can watch the re-runs....but they don't get all the jokes. The political one-liners, the pop culture references, the significance of the guest appearances, some of the fashion, etc. Enough time has passed now where all this stuff is completely opposite of back then and they could relay to relate to todays culture.

We've seen movies from the 80's/90's come back full force, they've already re-booted 'Boy Meets World' using Corey/Topanga as adult characters . So don't think it can't happen to Fresh Prince.





And don't think it won't happen.

This won't get made because as much as hollywood doesn't care about shytting on the past they aren't trying to put a show with an all black cast on the air again. The only all black shows out right now are Tyler Perry shows and that one Ice Cube show. The only way this would get made is if Will Smith wanted to make it and he is so far above TV even the thing he made just to give his son something to do was a major blockbuster budgeted movie.

nah, not happening. a lot of the GOATness about shows like FP, Martin, Living Single, Cosby, and Different World was one, great casts, but just the era when black people were getting shine on prime time and taking real urban life, music, style, and black culture and infusing it into these shows - aside from Martin, the humor was smart. something like this will never get greenlit in this climate, you won't get the ad dollars, if they try (like this black-ish sitcom that supposed to debut) it will be watered down safe, deadpan parks & rec/community/the office type comedy...donald glover will be the star. network TV simply isn't in a position to support a real black show, the product they come up with would be an abomination

It'll already be in local syndication by this time next year.

100 episodes and you might laugh 2 times.

Only way I could see this working is if it was the inverse. Someone pointed out hip hop isn't fresh and taboo anymore. Be kind of cool if a rich kid, became broke somehow and had to adapt to living in the trailer park/hood...


Still would be wack like every other sitcom out now.

Will Smith has grossed 2.7 billion at the box office and he doesn't seem to be interested in being involved with even a producer role in a remake. He could care less about that show. You can't do a remake of the show without Will Smith in some capacity.

Meanwhile, Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel were at home waiting for that phone call since the day the final episode was broadcast.

What's to stop them from making Ashley and/or Carlton parents and have their own sets of kids as characters? Pretty sure they would take that role if offered. Then they'd just have to cast the lead.

This would be ABC Family status and probably would be done after 12 episodes.
