I mean I get your sentiment but for the time, it was the equivalent of what the first avengers film was in 2012(?).

It was a cultural movement and monumental for the time period. So it gets graded on a curve.

plus it was the first “dark” take on Batman in live action and in movie form so it had that going for it as well. I believe Superman was done before that which was bright and colorful so Batman 89 was completely different to what people were use to.

does that make it good, compared to what we have today, no but I can understand the context as to why people loved the movie.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
After the campiness of Batman ‘66, Burton’s Batman gave him back his dignity. Joker being responsible for his parents death was a weak point, but other than that Keaton was a near perfect Batman. You can say his Bruce Wayne was weak, but his portrayal of Batman shyts all over Bale.
Keaton had the best Bruce/Batman balance and combination. Kilmer was ok. Bale was a great Bruce. Terrible Batman. Ben Affleck as an decent Bruce. DOPE Batman. Noone nailed the combo like Keaton yet.

It's not good movie, it's an entertaining one, with imagination, which all these modern films lack

The movie wasn't trying to be realistic, or pretend to be some artsy independent film with a critique on society

The Batmobile had machine guns on it

The film created the Animated Series the noir steam punk aesthetic holds up and pretty much all the modern batman lore

The costume had zero mobility yet the church scene is better action than any of the nolan films

Batman actually had a real batcave, he was at the bat computer doing real detective work

Michael Keaton is the best actor to play Batman, he could act without saying words

He wasn't a simp, he treated Vicki Vale like Derek Jeter do them hoes, he would be me tood today because he got her drunk at the crib and smashed then had alfred see her out

Affleck was trash, his batman all cgi and special effects, he was just ben afflect in a costume he never tried to be bruce wayne or batman
