I hear you, I think if the internet was bigger back then like it is now and if social media was going strong we would've seen the other side to Jordan.. Punching teammates in practice, the partying, the white girls, etc. We didn't get all that so everyone has this misty-eyed fond memory of Michael Jeffery Jordan.. and not to mention he balled out of control on the court. He dominated shyt with flare and swagger:yeshrug:

...and I can't knock em at all for that. He inspired my favorite player so I can I not respect the fukk outta Jordan. I just think it sucks that they pimp out this mythological image of the man. It's the ultimate troll card against any basketball player aspiring to be HOFer, best in the league great.

Espn will make you hate anybody because they go overboard... Kareem was great, nikka even got trained by bruce lee lol. Bill russell was great but that whole team was as well. I cant discredit them and no real sports fan will but the prob is, there is nothing to reference, not really any old games no real footage. Hell wilt chamberlains 100 pt game doesnt even exist outside of newspaper clippings, so thats their achilles heel. Their prime was all newspaper clippings and word of mouth.

Great point, but at the same time if the Jordan era was marketed no differently than the Magic/Bird era then maybe the superstars of today would be much more appreciated. Tim Duncan is a very decorated star but he's hardly discussed, Kobe can do things Jordan didn't do but he'll never be Jordan and same with LeBron, they can only be themselves and do what they gon do. At some point the myth gotta rest.

Its sad because His stans make you dislike the guy even though we all grew up watching him play. They prop him up and show videos, and stats like we don't know that shyt already, almost like they think they're giving classified information. nikka I KNOW he dropped 45 in the closeout game 6 against Utah, I KNOW about the 3 point show in the 92' finals, I KNOW about his legendary "will to win"

If no one is close to Jordan and no one ever will be, why do they feel the need to tear down modern players to prop him up? His resume should(and it does) stand for itself

Here's my thing, I think most kobe fans spend too much time trying to convince others that he is better than jordan, jordan fans dont. True jordan reached this point of deism that nobody can reach, but I think kobe carved his own legacy. Do I personally think he's as good as jordan? No but thats perfectly ok that doesnt make him any less great.l and Lebron could be the greatest of all time by the time its said and done. Truth be told, jordan wasnt well liked and its the lebron argument all over again. He can score but he cant win it all kobe is great but cant do it without shaq... Same shyt different era

Mike was the most dominate player of the most popular era of the sport...He is also peers (age wise) as most of the people in the media... Most of the coaches and GM's in the league either played against him or coached against him...As the crack babies continue to grow older and get jobs in broadcasting and journalism or front office positions the narrative will switch to Kobe being the demigod of the sport for that era...

That's how it works... It just isn't his time yet...You just have to be patient to wait enough time when the greats of this era are far enough removed to let nastolgia kick in to boost their legends..

You gotta remember that Jordan wasn't the "Jordan" that you've grown to hate his first 8 years in the league... He was always in the shadows of Doc, Magic and Bird until he started winning rings...

Exactly what I said. People hated jordan early on. Difference is that immediately changed after that 1st title and kobe is still fighting to just be kobe 5 titles later.

Kobe fans hate on MJ for the same reason that Nas fans hate on Jay Z, insecurity. Kobe fanboys know that regardless of how many rings Kobe ends up with, he'll never be better than Mike and that hurts these boys soul. That's the reason for this thread. I say keep crying, its music to my ears.

I don't even fukk with Nas but why would a Nas fan be insecure of that camel faced sellout? :scusthov:

LeBron has been brought up in this discussion just as much as Kobe so this isn't about that. In case you haven't been payin attention, nobody is hatin on Mike. Just on how people treat his legend like the first time they smoked a crack rock. But this is the era where disagreement or difference of opinion = hate so yeah I'm hatin. :yeshrug:

The problem with Kobe is he is part of the generation that always jumped the gun on crowning n!ggas...If they would have waited until after the Boston series in '10 to introduce the comparissions then it probably wouldnt be ignored as much...But they got cized after the 80 point game against the Raptors and haven't looked back...

He will have his time (then Bron will eventually have his time)...

But we are part of the era where everything has to be immediatly quantified as classic...Breaking Bad the best TV show of all time, Dark Knight greatest movie of all time, Eminem greatest rapper of all time, Brady greatest QB of all time etc...

Nobody is patient enough to allow history to happen organically anymore...Kobe is a victim of that in some ways..

He's definitely a victim of that, him much moreso than LeBron since he played against Jordan and has the same type of game. But this whole microwavable classic era was spurred from all these fiends wantin another Jordan. It starts to ruin the sport because your asking for an unrealistic expectation. MJ's reign happened naturally so why force that shyt on the next man? NFL wants that Jordan money so now QBs are the focal point, stern dyin for another Jordan so every possible candidate is forced upon the fans creating the stannish atmosphere we're in now. All Jordan did was ball, the myth peddlers won't let it be that simple tho.

Reb warned us back at the :hamster: about this shyt...
