You only consider the stuff you don't mind hearing as being productive to this discussion. I think that you're being dishonest by not acknowledging what I initially said. This is about you being a Kobe fan salty that he'll never be viewed as being as good as Mike. It's hard to take all that "gawd" crap seriously with MJ still being fresh in people's mind. All that stuff about players being measured against MJ being detrimental to the sport is nonsense. I haven't seen any intelligent explanation for why Kobe or Lebron being compared to MJ has been detrimental to the sport. You can argue that it's been detrimental to those guys as individuals but I wouldn't even agree with that. As far as Kobe, I think that his drive to be as good or better than MJ is we big reason for why he is as good as he is. Mike gave him a goal to shoot for. As far as Lebron, I don't see how any MJ comparisons are hurting him. It's actually a compliment to both guys to even have people seriously comparing them to Mike. He is the goat, after all.
I did acknowledge what you initially said. To me it's about preference. If Kobe passes Jordan in rings and points scored I lie to you not I will claim Kobe is better than Jordan. As for everything else, just browse back through this thread to see the points made about the negatives that came from the Jordan era.
Aside from that, I agree with you. It's a compliment for LeBron and it's the driving force for Kobe's greatness to be compared with Jordan. Nevertheless, do you really think gator_king has a point and it's just a matter of letting time pass before the way people fiend for "another Jordan" finally goes away?
