A lot of people in this world like Kobe(several billion in China) so I guess nikkaz is right Kobe is gonna be worshipped in retirement, smh so now Kobe's gonna be the one to have ESPN constantly comparing him to other nikkaz like Jordan is now? :snoop:
No, he's not. It's still gonna be Jordan. Maybe one day it will become Lebron. But until then its still Jordan.

This is why :umad:

Honestly, yeah probably, if and only if a shooting guard comes out of college with the drive to be considered one of the best, but the thing is, since Kobe came into the league, who has been able to compare to him? nobody. Like it's been said previously, Kobe is Jordan's shadow, but there are a number of shooting guards/players that aren't even sharing the same sunlight as Jordan and Kobe.

So we're denying that Kobe has the international fanbase on lock? Passing Jordan in rings and scoring is enough for the rest of the planet to pay homage, hell they already doin that. Only in this cesspool does black excellence get downplayed because he's not bald with a hoop earring playing in Chicago. When he retires, people will realize what they just saw and bow down and Jordan's myth can finally rest.

LeBron will get his time after Kobe and it'll be well deserved. :jawalrus:

You're debating against yourself now. If you believed any of this you wouldn't have made the thread in the first place.

Like I said, it's all on preference. If the point of basketball is to score points, win games, and win titles, how would Kobe not be > Jordan by my logic? Cuz it took longer? Cuz a bunch of dikkridin journalists thought he wasn't a valuable player? Rings are a team achievement but you need great individual players to make it happen, so that jewel can still shine in this topic since we always bring up the 6 rings Jordan got and hang that over every other players head.

Naturally MJ's shadow will shrink, but in the process many players have been depreciated. Even LeBron. A lot of nikkaz including myself couldn't just be fans cuz his handlers wanted us to believe he was Jordan when he clearly wasn't. Oh, and Kobe was the best player in the NBA from 2001 to 2010. :youngsabo:
Well if it's all about preference with you, then you can say that you "like" Kobe more than MJ all day everyday and not be wrong. Your problem is that you're insecure and you personally liking Kobe better than Mike isn't good enough for you. You're coming across as a fanboy of a particular player instead of a fan of the sport. You don't even need that nonsensical spin to justify liking him more. Just know that BS spin you posted for him being better than Mike won't fly with reasonable basketball fans though. I don't care how many rings he gets and I don't care how many points he ends up scoring, Kobe is not as good as MJ. You gon lose that argument every time. Your fanboy mentality is kind of sad, really.

MJ comparisons aren't the reason that Lebron has been under appreciated by some, hate is the reason. Haters have a platform now, and that has in turn created more haters. Reasonable people separate hype from reality, haters use hype as an excuse to hate. You're using that "oh Lebron was supposed to be MJ" hype as an excuse but your hate is on you. If you haven't appreciated Lebron then Its probably because of your Kobe agenda. Lebron makes Kobe fans insecure because he's a threat to Kobe's "shine".

Kobe has never been the undisputed best player in the league to me. He's also never even as good as Lebron currently is in my opinion.:umad:

Sad thing is, most of the purported Jordanstans are open to the possibility that Lebron is going to be better than Jordan. We will wait and see. IT was clear to most of us that Kobe was not going to be as good as jordan (circa 2004). Even the stans admit it now.

THere is no Jordan dikkriding. Most people who call him the GOAT will say "JOrdan was an a$$hole, but the best I've ever seen play."

And Kobe hasn't even surpassed Magic.

Welp, this discussion has pretty much degenerated into "Your a stan/fanboy" responses so I'll just leave this alone. I'm actually surprised we got to have a good discussion on this despite the thread title and me being a Laker fan. I'll just keep suffering with my insecurity while Kobe passes Jordan in titles and points and retires as the best of his generation. :ahh:

Edit: And the sheer hatred continues to show itself. We're all victims of the Jordan era brehs, hopefully we all get some help.

His generation being The Vince Carter, AI era?

That's not saying much. Jordan and Lebron will go down as all time greats.

Solid point.

But Ali isn't the undisputed greatest(I think he's the greatest), you'll hear some Boxing fans name other guys. Same with Ruth. What your really saying is it was more the image that made them the GOAT rather than the substance because quite a few of their contemporaries had the substance. The ones you named were just fortunate as fukk to be in the right situation at the right time combined with having exceptional talent.

Its the same in basketball.I've talked to people who think magic or kareem are the goats

It just seems kobe stans HATE mike cuz he's that one player who stands in kobes way

I don't hate Jordan, I hate how the media whores out his myth and how david stern/Nike/NBA on NBC turned the sport into some souped up hero worshipping pissing contest because of one man who's no more comparable than any other legend other than the fact that he came around at the perfect time period. Jordan inspired Kobe, so why would I hate him as a player? I just hate the demigod that's been created and how the media makes it as if the sport can't move on until we've found the "Next Jordan".

I coulda swore we was talkin bout this a few pages back...

It is what it is though man. The discussion hasn't degenerated, it's just now getting real which is why you want to tap out. It's all good when you got other posters who have clear agendas when it comes to MJ and his influence on the league partially consigning, but when cats start getting at the real motivation and the actual agenda here, all of a sudden it's degenerating. Do I acknowledge that the MJ comparisons, references, and all that gets repetitive? Yes. Do I agree that it's something that's hurting the game or players like Lebron and Kobe? No. Look at Durant, he doesn't get any MJ comparisons. Wonder why? It's because he plays nothing like him and has done nothing to bring a MJ comparison on himself.

So what does it say that the only SG to give Jordan a "problem" is Joe Dumars?

Since he was getting doubled and tripled back then do it really matter?

I can feel that,The media bombards EVERY thing these currrent players do wit jordan comparisons. It can get annoying

But blame the MEDIA not jordan, espn is a joke of a network now

People like doug collins, steve kerr, reggie miller as annoucers ALWAYS mention somethin jordan did when they broadcast games.
