:dead: Gyaatttt damn

I know silver skinhead ass gotta be fuming. Christmas Day nba used to be sacred. Featured the best superstar matchups, beat rivalries, idk what the fukk that was on Xmas, not one meaningful game.

Xmas matchups should have been

Denver vs Sixers (this was a fukking layup and they blew it)

Boston Vs Bucks (even before the trade this matchup made sense)

Warriors vs Lakers (rematch of last year)

Suns vs Mavs was a good call tho

They gonna have to start playing games on Christmas Eve :mjcry:

No. They won't have players play on 2 days rest.
What’s to stop them from having the teams that play on Christmas play on MNF the following week and have them coming off a bye leading into the game? I have looked into the logistics but I just assumed that’s how they’d play it.

No. They won't have players play on 2 days rest.
There's 32 teams. They could run 3 games each year for christmas regardless of the day they'd still have more than enough teams for full Sunday/Mon night games, even Sat games that same week if they wanted. All they have to do is work the byes to make it all fit

No way the NFL goes 5 years without games on Christmas when they've been crushing the NBA since they started doing it years ago, especially not now after this year's ratings. NBA's just gonna have to hold that if they even care....or actually improve the product

People saying this doesn't matter are clueless.
These leagues are selling a product. TV ratings show how many people are buying that product.
NBA isn't selling well--NCAA tournament games outdrew NBA Finals games last year.
America loves watching sports; America loves watching basketball; America doesn't love the NBA.
You got a Play-In Tournament and an In-Season Tournament because of this calculus.
NFL meanwhile could be thinking of starting a developmental league in the spring to cut into the available eyes watching the NBA playoffs--that now might look like a market that is 'settling' for NBA basketball because it's all that's on. These Christmas ratings show that, when it's the NBA's showcase going head to head against football with very little actual playoff implications--so a tit for tat, regular season equivalent--the NFL outdraws it, what, 5 or 6 to 1?
This type of math has a direct impact on what NFL programing you will see cutting int springtime in the near future.

With the exception of the Jordan years, March Madness has always been bigger than the NBA Playoffs. America does not love college basketball, they love the concept of a 64 (68) team sudden death tournament. The college basketball regular season is even more irrelevant than the NBA’s.

Ratings wise, the only sporting event that has proven to be able to compete with the NFL is the Olympics, and that probably wouldn’t be the case if they weren’t every four years.

The NBA is making more revenue than ever and there’s still nothing the NBA can do compete with the NFL. Football is religion in this country. The Super Bowl is basically a national holiday. Watching football on Sundays, MNFs are seen as traditions. Favorite teams are passed down through generations.
