It's a cool city. Not a tourist destination by any means unless you're trying to save money on a hotel and going to NYC. Even then you're better off in JC or that area.

There are some really nice places to eat and the nightlife ain't too bad. It has potential, downtown has really changed since the Prudential Center (I wish the Nets were still here).

My hometown. A city on the rise especially in the downtown area. One of Blackest cities in America bar none. Rich culture and a lot of stuff to do. You have the Red Bull soccer team, NJ Devils, Newark Bears. A destination for musical performances, plays etc at the NJPAC.

Its far from perfect, crime is still an issue but I still call it home. Call me bias 9/10.

Newark is a gigantic Brownsville.

Good luck parking your car there.

There was a time when Downtown Newark and Downtown Brooklyn were essentially the exact same thing. Of course one got gentrified and took the Nets from the other lookalike.

Newark is going to look completely different in 5-10 years. Gentrification is already in place and a lot of investors and VC's have told me to invest in newark today.

I give Newark a 6...good portugese food in the iron bound, muslim spots that carry oills and shea butter, a good presence of black people, black stores, etc but as time goes by they will get pushed out unless they put their money together and stay strong..

No disrespect but I wouldn't mess with a woman from newark lol...they've seen a lot and some are just grimey

Orange and East Orange are still considered the hood. South Orange and West Orange are like legit suburbs.

I think East Orange gets a bad rap. They've been doing a lot to change the area and some sections are really nice. My whole perception changed once I started looking at houses in that area.

I agree, compared to what it was in the 80's and 90's its worlds different. I would suggest people buy property out there it's very affordable.

Pretty affordable and some relatively huge pieces of land too.

What y'all think about Harrison NJ when it comes to real estate

The time to get in on Harrison was 10 years ago, if you have the money invest in it, but it's not cheap, Harrison is trying to house the overflow from Jersey City and people who are still bothered by the Newark area codes.
