East Orange is a separate city.
It is but East Orange, Orange and Irvington are considered to be the same thing pretty much.

There was a time when Downtown Newark and Downtown Brooklyn were essentially the exact same thing. Of course one got gentrified and took the Nets from the other lookalike.
I don't know about the Oranges, but Irvington definitely.
Orange and East Orange are still considered the hood. South Orange and West Orange are like legit suburbs.
I think East Orange gets a bad rap. They've been doing a lot to change the area and some sections are really nice. My whole perception changed once I started looking at houses in that area.
I agree, compared to what it was in the 80's and 90's its worlds different. I would suggest people buy property out there it's very affordable.
