I love Newark. The House & Jersey Club scene out there is amazing. One of the best in the world. There's really something to get into damn near every day in Newark if you're into arts and music so when people say there ain't shyt to do I just laugh cause I know they weren't looking at all or just ain't ask no black folks. There's still a lot of culture left in the city despite the gentrification.

Even Newark Public Library had a damn club night this Summer lol... nikkas literally could've checked out a book and got it the fukk in :mjlol:

Hillside is like how Mt. Vernon is to the Bronx. It's considered a small suburban town outside of Newark. Irvington and East Orange have basically in the last 20 years turn into the Caribbean extensions of Newark with Irvington being heavy Haitian and Jamaican populated and EO heavy Guyanese, etc. Newark and Elizabeth are 2 completely different cities. The vibe and culture is different. But back to the topic, in order to live in Newark you have to be tough. And I'm not saying to be some gangsta or killah, but the people are rough out here. Don't get it twisted, a lot of great people here. Real people. To me Newark is the true definition of a black city. But you have a lot of ruthless nikkas out here. This city ain't for the weak at heart.

The best thing about Newark is really community engagement. Whether it's on the political level, religious level, neighborhood level, activist level, Newark is a city where everything is intertwined with one another. And that's the essence of a true black city. Although it's the largest city in the state, it has a small town vibe where it seems like everyone knows each other are connected by 6 degrees of separation. Then again, if you trying to be low that can be a bad thing too lol
