Went there for family functions.
Went one summer for a black summer theater event.
Birthplace of 9th Wonder. 2 points off that alone.
In between Charlotte and Triangle, in it's only little area with Greensboro.
Like the rest of N.C. Piedmont just needs high speed train to connect these cities I think.

But my youth era and era of 96-01 fukked the city up.

shyt used to be violent and shyt got shut down every weekend and eventually the city said “enough is ENOUGH”

They went a different direction to shut down the violence and fukkery and what you seeing are the results

We destroyed the party scene in that city but on the flipside made it a safer place for you and your kids

Bruh I could never live here . It's a different kind of NC, I'll say that...

There's a lot of wiggers here, something I haven't seen to the same extent in any of the other big Carolina cities and I've been to em all. Was it like that growing up? You and I are in the same age bracket too, right? (I'm 33)...

I'm over here in the vicinity of Glenn High, is it just this side if town?

I will say this is a decent looking city, you can tell there's a ton of investment here. Downtown is clearly being built up, and I like how downtown looks, it's attractive. The women here are decent but I'll be honest, WS chicks are not on the level of women in Raleigh, Fayetteville, Durham, Greensboro, or Charlotte. And I guess I was expecting more, since Carolina cities in general have reputation for gorgeous women, and rightfully so...

There's a decent selection, I can appreciate it, but the other cities I named are blowing WS away on that level...

It is a comfortable city, but it "feels" different. It's clean....there's a ton of black folk here but it does feel more white-oriented than those other cities I named...

I will say this is a decent looking city, you can tell there's a ton of investment here. Downtown is clearly being built up, and I like how downtown looks, it's attractive. The women here are decent but I'll be honest, WS chicks are not on the level of women in Raleigh, Fayetteville, Durham, Greensboro, or Charlotte. And I guess I was expecting more, since Carolina cities in general have reputation for gorgeous women, and rightfully so...

There's a decent selection, I can appreciate it, but the other cities I named are blowing WS away on that level...

What do you feel about the fact that Winston is putting up its highest murder rates in three decades? Seems like they killing more today than they have in the previous couple eras. And if you had to describe the culture of the city as a whole, and Black Winston, how would you describe it?

The worst ass whooping I ever took in my life was from a Winston brother in February 2008 . I got back at him two days later but he whooped me good that first run. In general though when I was in the prisons in the late 00s, Winston didn't have a reputation as a city making noise, and most brothers from there were laid back. Smaller cities like Greenville and Wilmington were more of a problem as far as cats controlling programs or getting in beef, Winston dudes just had fewer live wires than other places. So I always had the impression that cats were more harmonious here...

When I've come here before, it's because I had a "sister" (friend I grew up with) from DC go to WSSU years back and came out to see her, went out to eat, never explored the city...

I don’t know about “white orientated”

Like let me say this….. when I was in Winston, every school I went to was a black school or majority black school.

I’ll say this, the most white WS is or atleast was was on the west side (like Lewisville and Clemmons), for East (which is more Kernersville like you mentioned near Glenn).

And maybe a little of the North side. But I’m a SouthSide WS brother, can’t tell you too much about the North as I ain’t really roam there like that back in the days and when I do go home, still rarely venture there.

But East Winston and South Winston is where (atleast back then) where most of the blacks stayed….. it kinda had a stigma to it back then if you said you was from either one of those places. People that know KNOW

Finally, the culture changes depending on what side of town you’re own. So it’s kinda hard to answer that question
