I’ve seen your name around here a few times but I didn’t know you was from North Carolina.

Lived down the street from Independence High, near Clemmonville Rd.

First job was the Food Lion at South Park shopping center.

And road up and down Peters Creek Parkway and Silas Creek thousands of times

5/10 it’s a cool city it’s just nikkas are grimy out there

And I’m from Greensboro saying that, I just ain’t feel safe out there. I was with one of my friends and we ran to his crib and nikkas was looking at me like I was food in his neighborhood until they realized my boy was in the passenger seatand this nikka lives on Sherwood Forest that’s not even the bad part can’t imagine what nikkas from the hood are like

Hood winston nikkas will rob you and strip you naked in broad daylight

Greensboro niccas was always cool.... like y’all never wanted no problems and for the most part I really don’t recall anyone from the Tre having issues with y’all.

Yea we was grimey in the Tre, but they was some dirty niccas..... like they all looked like they wore drawlz with skid marks and had holes in they dingy ass socks

Went there for family functions.
Went one summer for a black summer theater event.
Birthplace of 9th Wonder. 2 points off that alone.
In between Charlotte and Triangle, in it's only little area with Greensboro.
Like the rest of N.C. Piedmont just needs high speed train to connect these cities I think.

But my city, I got the biggest love hate relationship from it. It’s giving some of my happiest highs and lowest lows.

Sidenote, Parkland played Cox Mill down here in Concord last night and I was at that game

I see the nicknames you got listed OP, but we call the city the Tre or Tre-4.

Bro when you get the plug on the Winston gear let me know. I’d want a southside hoody or something with Morningside.

Man, I remember when 102 used to play our anthem on the radio. nikkas used to get hype AF throwing up them tres or fours.

I still remember as a kid when Happy Hills was popping, going to Happy Hills day for the cookouts. My grandpa would be on the grill. Hanes mall on Saturdays with my grandma.

Winston nikkas are a different breed. I used to hang out all around Cleveland, because my cousins lived over there. shyt could get rough for you if your ass got caught up in the Circle (Piedmont Circle). I was always on the south or East. I rarely was on the north side.

I don’t really consider it a city that you’d visit or vacation to. They’ve built up downtown quite a bit. It used to be really rough that way, but they’ve tried to clean it up to get the white folks out there. East Winston and it’s neighborhoods are historical black neighborhoods. They’ve been able to hold off gentrification. Those RJ Reynolds towers bring back memories. My aunty and grandpa worked there. My aunt ended up getting my cousins onto cigarettes, because she’d bring home cartons and my cousins would sneak and get into them.

I feel you on the love/hate thing. I love my city, but I’ve definitely outgrown it and wouldn’t live there now. If I’m being honest, Greensboro is the only city I’d live now. Greensboro became a home to me after attending A&T. My true grade for the city would be a 6, but me being biased, I’m going to give it a 10.

Grew up in the Tre. nikkas mad grimey out there. I'd never move back.
