Ice T ain’t a lyricist (and he’d probably be the first person to tell you that) and I’m not even a big fan of his music, but he’s one of the few rappers who used gangsta rap to educate people rather than to be on some exploitive shock value shyt. He was also doing at a time when gangsta rap was way less popular and profitable as it ended up being.
And Nas is my favorite rapper but honestly his mafioso drug kingpin phase was way more problematic than anything Ice T did as far as the premise of your thread
