While I agree that you have to be smarter, the guy was also drunk too, so he may not have been able to pick up on those cues. People make bad decisions when they’re drunk all the time. He was probably drunk enough to not see it as a risk. Getting drunk at bars/club can be a dangerous situation for both parties
