this is the correct answer.

SG was the most sonically adventurous, had the most technical chops as musicians, and had the best vocalist of the bunch.

in pearl jam's defense, they are the only group here that has actually been fully active from their formation in 1990 to present day which is why (save for stone temple pilots, maybe) all the other bands have a tighter, better catalog.

Me,Chris, Miko muir,Dave Navarro,
Kiedis,Flea and Angelo Moore
would always run into each other
at skip saylors back in the day in Cali
when i was in Cali recording.

Chris was Special.

Eastside of that Motor
Pearl Jam is my favorite band of all time but AIC had the best singer (tied with Chris) and guitarist.

I know a few people that knew Layne towards the end. They said he was DOWN BAD on the boy. No teeth, missing a finger all that, like 100 lbs.

Lowkey the only difference between Layne’s sad end and Kurt Cobain’s cemented legacy is a shotgun

AIC
Soundgarden
Nirvana
STP
Pearl Jam

I only have Pearl Jam last because I'm the least familiar with them and not quality

PJ is very good and even as a fan of theirs I can admit that Eddie Vedder's voice while being good, can get annoying over a certain length amount of time.

They're just like really solid overall in their output. But to be fair they're probably the least experimental out of all those groups. They tend to stick with what works.

Say what you want about Stone Temple Pilots they really would go off the deep end at times to try to experiment with different styles.

I'm still a big fan of Core but I'll be the first to admit that he got lumped in by sounding like a lot of other groups.

He's one of the few guys that got much better as his career went on. That group evolved in being much different sounding than their peers when they first came in the door

you prolly have. he was friends with cobain and covered 'where did you sleep last night' by lead belly way back in 1990. kurt started covering it after that!

(cobain helped produce this album)

if you like grunge music you might remember him as the lead singer of the Screaming Trees

(iirc he also sang on "hangin tree" by queens of the stone age..)
