1.Nirvana basically created the genre
2. AIC
Everybody else….
Honorable mention: garbage, Tool, and Primus
Nirvana did not invent the genre

You can go back to Green River, Screaming Trees, Killing Joke (who they ripped off Come As You Are) or The Pixies. If you want to keep it a buck it really all started with The Stooges. Raw Power is a 20 year older version of Nevermind

Soundgarden had a record deal five, six years before Nirvana

A lot of singers fake the funk that they're tortured singers and you can tell right away that it ain't authentic.

There was nothing fake about where he was coming from

He was the dark side of the moon

He told Jerry's Stories(Sunshine & Rooster)too damn well:wow:....and then their MTV Unplugged I put over all of them(including Uptown & LL)

You’re right I stand corrected. Nirvana brought it to the masses. I always consider the stooges more a punk band. Never heard of green river or screaming trees.

I’m going to sound like a cracker rn but ten was the first album I’ve ever bought physically in a store. Might be the only one I just used to either download off the net or smuggled my sisters music. So I have to put them in the first slot and I’m not a huge fan but that Jeremy song and video was crazy to see on mtv nirvana is 2 I like their songs more and Cobain’s voice embodies pain like no other can’t be replicated the rest I can’t get into. STP has a banger but I forgot the name of the song

Yeah there's them, Mudhoney, The Gits. Bam Bam. Stooges were punk yes but their cords and stripped down style were a huge influence.

And Shyt Kurt looked like Iggy Pop.

this is the correct answer.

SG was the most sonically adventurous, had the most technical chops as musicians, and had the best vocalist of the bunch.

in pearl jam's defense, they are the only group here that has actually been fully active from their formation in 1990 to present day which is why (save for stone temple pilots, maybe) all the other bands have a tighter, better catalog.
