Nah we not gon do this..dude made the Suns a contender again, something they haven’t been since the Nash days.
Drafted Bridges, Cam, traded for CP, hired Monty & these moves led them to the finals. You can’t say his roster management has been “putrid” when he’s won executive of the year & made moves to get them on the brink of a title.
That Dallas series was a heartbreaker but that’s on the players and coaches. Folks thought they’d be trash this year but they’re 3rd in the west. Let that man cook he obviously knows what he’s doing.
He didn't draft Bridges. The previous GM Ryan McDonough did (along with Ayton).
James Jones doesn't take the draft seriously. It's evident because the current Suns roster has barely any youth.

Suns GM James Jones Admits He 'Probably' Would Have Passed on Devin Booker
In the 2020 draft he passed on Haliburton for no reason and traded Jalen Smith. Jalen may not be a starter, but could help with rebounding and spacing the floor. Haliburton should have been picked regardless of his feelings on the Suns. He would have helped in the Dallas series and even the Bucks series in the Finals.
The Suns didn't draft any rookies in 2021 due to the Landry Shamet trade. A trade that was made worse when Jones gave him a contract extension without seeing him play for the Suns. Yet he makes Deandre Ayton and Cam Johnson test restricted free agency. The only explanation for this foolishness is Monty wanted Shamet and persuaded Jones into giving him a contract extension.
The 2022 1st round pick was part of the CP3 trade and they didn't have a second round because they traded the pick with Jalen Smith for Torrey Craig.
The team still relies too much on CP3 and Booker as the main shot creators. The bench is below average and full of inconsistent role players. Most of them probably should be 3rd string players and possibly not on a championship team.
The downfall of this current run can basically be traced back to short-sighted decisions to ignore the draft and developing young talent. Almost every playoff team has young talent they are developing while winning. Some teams have gotten lucky with their young talent and they are contributing to their teams success.
The Suns are in the spot the Utah Jazz were the last few years. The only difference is the Finals run and they came up short.
The only explanation I can think of for the bad roster decisions is Sarver basically giving Jones minimal front office resources and a shoestring budget. Which is evident due to how the team is a consistent playoff team but not a contender. Sarver did the same shyt with the Steve Nash and the SSOL Suns.
Hopefully the new ownership has deep pockets and gives James Jones more resources to work with. I hope the Suns can get another G League team so they can develop young talent.
