Nah. Russell is showing growth with in the flow of the game. He's not forcing it and will continue to improve. His usage rate is very low for a starting point and a number 2 pick. Mudiay is just more nba ready right now but he is a turnover machine.
Russell needs a real point guard to mentor him like maybe a sam Cassell or andre miller. He got way 2 much size, vision a good jump shot not 2 be posting guards up.
If Randle develops into a functional passer he'll be a real problem.
Sounds like the young boy might not even be a complete player the way yall sideways hyping him.once he gets that J hell be unstoppable
lack basic basketball fundamentals and only rely on your superior athleticism brehsRose might be the worst starting guard in the League atm. He's complete right now. Tough to watch.
Pelicans are a perfect example of why you don't mortgage your future to desperately be an 8 seed
Dough Boy is physically weak as fukk. There were times last night where Denver players just manhandled him into the paint; on offense and defense. He's afraid of contact and has no fight in him whatsoever. Such a wasted pick.it's more about the skill set, talent and not being afraid to drive and make something happen than putting up good numbers right now. mudiay is explosive, fast first step and can create plays and he's just a rookie. once he gets a better grasp of the game then things will slow down for him and when he develops that jumper he's gonna beast. I think he'll be an upgrade over Lawson by the end of the season, but how high is his ceiling we'll have to wait and see. he has to learn to read defenses and work on his vision/passing to find the open man or cutter or he'll end up being a monta ellis type player, when he has the talent to be an elite PG in the league.
like @Malta said, deangelo will come off a screen slow and dribble to the top of the key or elbow and look for a cutter or the open man, but if it's not there then he'll just pull up for a shot or dribble some more. he struggles getting separation right now and can't create his own shot or drive to the basket for the defense to collapse on him/get to the line. he's only been to the FT line 2 times so far he has his work cut out if he's not gonna be able to drive to the basket.

the improvement in hassan's post game.....that hook shot
dude got a soft ass touch for a big man. there's no reason he shouldn't be the number 1 option on offense. the shyt infuriates me when the heat go 4-5 possessions without giving him the ball.
Im telling you a poor mans larry hughesThe problem with Russell is that he can't get into the lane, when he comes off that pick at the 3 line he doesn't explode out of it like other PGs, he moves in slow motion and the defense is already closing in on him so he takes that jumper from around the elbow. Right now his entire game is based on jumpshooting, I doubt he can finish in the paint that well which is why he avoids trying to go deeper into the lane. Mudiay didn't play great but he was in the lane all game long, which is why he had some turnovers, he would get so far into the paint he'd throw some sloppy shyt back out to the freethrow line or 3 point line.
I don't think Russell is a PG, they'd be better off playing him at the 2 and telling him to look for his own shot first.
Will you guys be able to afford him in free agency?
What has he shown you to be so optimistic? He barely even tries on the court. His demeanor is the complete opposite of his fellow rookies or the other young guys on the team like Clarkson and Randle.Bruh he's a rookie at least allow him to build up his strength and be a guy who can attack the paint every so often. It hasn't even been a year and you're acting like he can't get better.

If you knew nothing about the previous couple drafts and saw the Lakers on TV, who would you think was the second overall pick and the 46th pick between Clarkson and Randle?
I'm not expecting explosive plays from Russell maybe that's why I don't have a problem with this demeanor thing people are talking about. He's a floor general who is going to pass first. He is often surveying the floor looking for the right read. He really isn't going to force things. I do want him to attack the paint more because I think his speed has been much aligned unnecessarily. It seems more unwillingness to attack which might just be about confidence. I'm not really worried about DLO because I've seen the positive things he can do on the court like last night when he constantly made the right pass. The scoring and other stuff will come but cmon breh just remember he's a rookie and have to be patient. Clarkson looked like trash before he went to the dleague last year so you have to be patient with these guys.
