I'm surprised you just started. When I was running distance that's what helped me keep pace and push through. Oddly enough I'm moving away from head phones during lifting. It's a distraction now.
Well it's typically dark when I go out so I was just a little afraid to put the ear phones in but that anxiety has since gone away. Actually even when I was in the gym I didn't bother with headphones, it was just one more thing I had to be responsible for.

I'm researching resistance band workouts. Although the 20lb dumb bells are "light" there are still a shyt ton of exercises I can't do with them. Like a lat raise.

I fukked up the left side of my body...I dont know how, it must be from DLs.

My left:
Hamstring
Knee
Bicep
Inner Pec
Tricep

are all sore.
shyt is crazy. I just woke up like this one morning.
None of it is bad...but the knee thing is making me back off of squats for a bit longer :mjcry:

I quit smoking Pot, and started doing intermittent fasting.
shyt has my energy level on 10. And im already a lighter..just need to start doing cardio.

How long ago did you stop? I'm quitting because I have a doctor's appointment and I'm also getting my life insurance finalized and that requires a physical. I hope it's for good, actually but maybe just for the next month or so.

My life insurance physical was one of the things that got me mentally ready for my weight loss journey

I thought I was the same old youthful, invincible, full of vitality Adam. Was destined to get the "healthy person" premium rate. HELL NO, I failed that shyt miserably. BMI was :flabbynsick: waist to hip ratio was :flabbynsick: and cholesterol was :flabbynsick:

shyt was scary to be quite honest, because I felt I was too young for that shyt. But it opened my eyes. Skinny fat is a very real and common problem and people fool themselves

its only been a week so far...but im going to keep this going for a few months to see if I really clear up.
I was listening to a podcast, and the guy said after a month w/o smoking he felt flat out smarter.

I got a buddy that had to do that insurance stuff.
If I remember right he actually failed the test the first time...so he retook it at a later date.
I would give it at least a month to make sure everything is clear.

That's good!! It's tough to quit, for me anyway. It's more of a habit than anything. I have a little more than 30 days before the appointment so that's why I started now. Enough time to relapse but still have a solid month to get it together. :heh:

Fellow Iron enthusiasts.....I think I may have finally found the Elixir to my Bench pressing woes :wow:

"Pressing from the floor reduces the contribution of elasticity and the stretch reflex. If you pause with your upper arms on the floor for a second or two at the start of each rep, you can reduce the contribution of the stretch reflex by as much as 90 percent. That's why most of us will be weaker pressing from the floor than we are when we press from a bench, even though the range of motion is shorter.

But by inhibiting the stretch reflex, you rely almost entirely on the actual contraction of the muscles during a floor press. The result is a more forceful contraction, and lots of gains in size and strength. In that sense, it's the upper-body equivalent of a deadlift."

The best max effort exercises for the bench press are the Floor Press, Board Press, Close Grip Bench Press, JM Press, and Reverse Band Presses. All Pressing motions! As with the squat and dead lift max effort exercises, there are several variations of each movement. Each exercise has a specific function. For instance, the floor press takes your legs out of the motion so greater emphasis is placed on the pecs, delts and triceps. The close grip incline press takes your lats out of the motion so there is greater emphasis placed on the delt"

I'm definitely going to give these a go and mix it up on the accessory work post main set pressing tonight.....:lupe:

yea...I think the biggest hurdle when quitting is breaking your daily habits.
When im sitting on the couch I still find myself reaching over to the side table to grab my ashtray.

Its made my eating a lot more clean though...if I can lose like 10 pounds I may be sold on that smoke free life.

:salute: to that smoke free life, keep me/us updated on your progress. I start tomorrow and I will do the same.

I've traveled to 9 cities in the last 7 days, brehs. I was able to work out for 3 of them, but I need some serious sleep.
Saw some sneak peaks of the photoshoot from a few days ago. It's funny how the version of myself in my head is so different than what comes out in pics. I need to focus on my back and shoulders some more. However, legs came out leaner and curvier than before, so a little progress there.
