Zerchers kill my legs and glutes. :manny: I bet if you recorded your form it'd resemble a zercher good morning more so than a zercher squat
Possible, but I felt and looked in the mirror like I was going full parallel and I never felt my back round until that 1 rep at 185 (which is why I stopped). So I think I was doing them correctly.

I certainly felt them in my legs. When I said "subpar" I was speaking in relative terms. Its not really controversial to say that lifting less weight = subpar. Unless your Zercher is higher than your back squat either in reps or poundages, it is unquestionably inferior for leg development. Just simple biology.

My glutes already get fukked up doing ATG back squats, so maybe thats why I didn't notice a particular emphasis on them doing the Zerchers. Maybe I'm too conditioned to it.

Matter of fact, I need a damn hack squat machine because I think my quads are being under-utilized compared to my posterior chain. Or I can just suck it up and leg press.

I will say though, in terms of functional strength I think that even after only 1 session I would put Zercher's at #3 in terms of importance. Only behind Farmer's Walks and Overhead Press. Yes, I think I would even put them above deadlifts. Having recently moved and thus carried a fukk ton of boxes and furniture, the Zercher was a perfect translation to that type of movement.

Did the bar touch your knees at the bottom of the movement?

I'm trying to remember what my position was in the hole but I don't remember. I will pay close attention to it next time I do them. I doubt it did though....sitting here getting into position without a bar to test it, it seems to me like the only way the bar would touch your knees is if you went well below parallel (which I didn't) or if you round your back. I tried to stay upright as possible and I used a narrow stance (I use a wide stance when back squatting, so I wanted this to be different).

My stance is medium to wide when I do them

I listen to jus one track my whole workout :jawalrus:

Marconi time :banderas:

Speaking of some decent Tunes to bump at the gym, I've just been browsing YouTube (slow morning at work) watching all sorts of PR videos & for the life of me I don't understand how the fukk 'some people' :mjpls: are in the zone pulling/squatting/pressing 3/4/5/6/ Plates per side to some crazy ass horrible gut wrenching style noise which apparently translates as 'Heavy/Death Metal/ Grunge music:dahell:

Can anyone comprehend lifting to that sort of shyte.. judging by my recent views there seems to be some correlation between Whack ass trash music & heavy ass lifting.. can anyone confirm this?:lupe:

I think my Ipod needs some Ozzie Bat biting intervention, Going to start my warm ups in Mosh Pit from now on & report back on the Gains from the dark side:demonic:

Dont sleep on leg press brehs. Im gonna say it. IM GONNA SAY IT GOD DAMN IT. Leg press >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> front squats, for pure quad development. I might even go as far as to say leg press >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> * for pure quad development. Hear me out :whoa:

My last heavy back squat day, I hit 5x315 on my last set of 3, with a paused last rep, which was a PR. A couple days before, I jumped on leg press for the hell of it, for the first time in years. I got up to 10x400. The sled is 80lbs. So that's ~480lbs. You take out the angular component (~30%, I am assuming it had a 45 degree angle), that's still 340lbs at my feet. For 10 pretty easy reps. On front squat I was happy to get ~165 for 8 and I was shaky as fukk the whole time. I enjoy squatting and will keep doing the back squat.... but if you want to turn up on quads, def give leg press a try. I was really surprised with how much weight I could move and how easy it was. Squats are good but you are limited by core strength and silly shyt like not wanting to get crushed by hundreds of lbs of weight.... leg press takes all that shyt out of the picture and just blasts your quads
