It's a little bit of a push/pull. I think if the sugar is coming from fruit and generally complex bars you should be fine. When you start discussing desserts, cereal, pop tarts, etc you likely want to keep the daily total below 70ish. Again that is figuring a pretty high crab load of 300 plus grams.
I Try to keep my carbs no higher than 250, because anything over 300 I get bloated as my activity level isn't that high since I work out of my home or office desk a lot of the day. I do work out twice a day 3-4 times a week out of the 6 days I go to the gym, but still I hold water easy as hell, so I don't do high carbs unless its a 2 a day.
