Lifting has to be one of the most rewarding, but frustrating hobbies there is.

Take a little break and it's a struggle to work your way back to where you were :mjcry:

Was at 100 x 5 for DB Bench, then took a few months off.

Hit 70 x 5 my first chest day back :flabbynsick:, now a few weeks later I'm at 85 x 5. I don't even want to get into my other lifts like squats :mjcry:

Slowly gettin it back, but damn it's tedious trying to climb my way back up to where I was.

What's a good # of reps/sets when you're first starting out on deadlifts?
Since you are starting from ground zero, I'm going to recommend you start with 95 lbs. The barbell plus 25 pound plates on each side. Just work with that for 10 reps. For two sets. Get a feel for the movement. You don't have to go fast. Maintain your form. A problem I see and sometimes I do is the upper body stays stuck and so the legs continue extending. Now, your body is in a situation where your lower back and hamstrings are trying to complete the rep, not your quads, hams, and glutes. This is not good.
Then, add 20 lbs. and do 10 reps.
Then add another 20 lbs and do 10 reps. Now you are at 135 lbs.
Keep going up in 20 lbs. increments and do 10 reps each. If you cannot do 10 reps, then do not add more weight to the barbell. Continue doing another set with as many reps as possible.
When you have completed four sets (or seven total), you should have 215 lbs. on the barbell. You can stop.

If you were able to get that weight for 10 reps, what you can do at your next deadlift workout is to start at 135 lbs. and go up in 20 lbs. increments. and do seven sets. When you get heavier, if you cannot do 10 reps in a clean manner, then don't to 10 reps in that set. Do as many as you can. No need to get injured.
Check back in later with your results. I have no idea if this is too easy, just right, or too hard.

You guys think working out 5-6 times a week is bad? I've been doing single body parts for a few months now, and I feel like I'm getting good results, but feel like it might also deteriorate my body over time much quicker.
5-6 is okay if you can maintain that.

this is true...i ate good during winter break and got sick which lead to missing the gym for about a week and eating even worse since healthy food tasted like shyt. I'm still not 100% healthy, but i can't stay away and I'm trying to bulk up and put on muscle with minimal fat so i'm back on IF and trying to up the weights too.

I usually hoop after I've gotten my workout in. Thats's when I know I'm really about to ball for real. If I just wanna hoop a little to get loose or whatever, then I'll do it before

U could prob get better results from less volume and more frequency (i.e. 2-3 upper body days a week) IMO

Body parts are ready to go again after 48 hours.......................................

As long as u lift with good form u shouldnt hurt urself.

Is it bad to eat before bed even tho I'm just coming from the gym? I get off work at 7:30 am, hit the gym then come home shower, eat, and sleep. My meal consists of a half cup of oatmeal with a scoop of protein and greek yogurt mixed in. 3 eggs and 3 slices of bacon. That too much? It doesn't feel heavy on my stomach or anything. And that's usually the biggest meal I eat.

If that works for your schedule I don't think it's worth changing. It's all generally net cals consumed more than anything.
