To me it's not "more is better". I don't need to do 20 sets of chest in one day and be there for an hour and a half. By that point you're depleted and it's junk volume.45 minutes? How many lifts are you doing in that time? Please post the workout you are doing in 45 minutes.
I get in. I lift almost to failure. Next.
Depending on the day it will be around 8-12 sets per body part. So chest day might be 3 working sets of bench, 3 of incline. 3 or 4 of flies. Some pushdowns and extensions for tris. Maybe a set of dips. That's it. Warm up sets not included.
Couple of days later. Back at it.
