Anybody else be feeling :francis::martin: when you got that last bit you're trying to lose and it seems like you just fluctuate for a while before you break through.

Sitting at 195 and trying to get to 190 before and I'm like :damn:
My thing too... Until I did sprints and elevated walking. Run on 6.8 to 7.1 for 45 seconds to a min then lift to 4.5 incline at least and 3.3 speed. shyt will fall off

Going forward, I am not sure if I should focus solely on cardio or if I should continue strength training as well. I don't want to turn around and gain the weight that I've just lost. I have a plethora of home equipment, but I am back in the gym for the professional machines.

Calisthenics has been my go-to choice of exercise when I am traveling and it works well for me. If I find myself picking up pounds because of exercise/lifting, then I will revert back to calisthenics and/or incorporate running into my regimen. My main goal is trying to reach 135 now.

Nothing magical about fasting, it's just a way for you to reduce your caloric intake.

Strength training is important for body composition, more important than cardio (and it takes less time). You should also do some form of strength training to combat osteoporosis as you age.

I don't typically fast for caloric restriction. It's mostly done for discipline/self control and spiritual reasons, which is why I do it regularly. I also find myself fasting unintentionally during hectic times in my life, when I tend to lose my appetite. That is the space that I am currently in.

I eat a pretty well balanced diet overall, and I don't deprive myself if I am craving something (carbs, or even sugar).

I had been strength training, but I wasn't sure if I should continue because I wanted to lean out. I will continue. You're right, it does so much more for the body than just toning.

Thanks so much for the advice!

The fasting comment was an aside for everyone, not really aimed at you. Folks that don't eat and then credit that for their weight loss just lacked the ability to effectively portion control. Fasting gives them a way to do this by reducing the amount of time (and thus food) they can eat.

As far as the strength training thing, the number one misconception most ladies have is that cardio > lifting for fat loss, body composition, aesthetics, etc. when it almost always the opposite that's the case. Building muscle will lean you out as the muscle burns calories just existing on your frame.

Also, remember that you cannot "tone" per se, you can only gain or lose body fat and build or lose muscle. Things like muscle shape and insertion points and tendon lengths are genetically determined and can only otherwise be affected by surgery.

Good luck and keep this thread in the back of your mind moving forward (that other one is no bueno ).

Yup. I fall in that category. I needed that tip because I have been primarily focused on increasing cardio for the past couple of weeks. When I said toning, I meant just the overall tightness/compression of the physique.

Good luck and keep this thread in the back of your mind moving forward (that other one is no bueno ).

lol at the bolded

I will be back to update. Thanks for looking out.

Last two days in the gym weren’t ideal but getting them in is more important.

Yesterday I got to the gym late so was only able to squat and do some SLDL. No time for leg press, leg curls or leg extensions. Still got in a decent work out once you consider the round trip bike ride.

Today I wasn’t fully focused because I lost my Airpods case and was one a 1-hr goose chase biking around town looking for em on the “Find My iPhone” app. Upper body was good but not as intense as I’d have liked.

Saving grace is I played soccer on Tuesday and can get in another leg day tomorrow. Also met this one dude at the gym who gave me some pointers on fixing the weakness in my left side. My bench has been slanted because my right side does more of the driving when I press the bar.

Still adding weight to the bar and still playing soccer so all is good.
