They are the ones that take 5-10 minutes between sets

I know this is a popular joke rn in the web x fitness matrix, but some sets take that much rest (i.e. ME singles).
:manny:

I wouldn't expect weak dudes or dudes that aren't powerlifters to understand this. If you know, you know.

It is been so hard trying to get in the gym to lift. I am pretty fit, mainly because I play soccer A LOT. I can run around for 2-3 hours plus playing soccer but the motivation to lift weights is just not there. I look at my pic from 2014/2015 wishing I can get back to it. Lean and muscular. I just don't have the motivation anymore. Going to try tomorrow morning and see if I can get some motivation.

I don't think about it. I jus do it and keep it simple.

I don't try to lift everyday. I'm in and out within 45-60 minutes.

I think too many people try to overly complicate it. Which is why I smh when cats are in the gym for 2 hours.

If you're during heavy weight / low reps then I get it.

But at my gym, from what I see it's only me and one other cat that really lift heavy.

The rest of the time I see peeps in the gym for 2 hours regularly. Now these people are in shape. And lift "above" average. But their lifts are no where near mine.

But what I'm trying say is, it's not necessary for everyone to lift for 2 hours a day, 6-7 days a week.

3-4 days 45 minutes, can work wonders for most people.

Even on non-powerlifting programs I'm still pushing more than an hour minimum; my shortest WoDs will take at least bout 75 minutes and they're intentionally designed to be quick-hitters. That program is also designed to be ran (read: lifting) 5 days a week minimum.

I can't knock your experience @Serious but at my gyms it's usually the opposite; the motherfukkers that try to be in and out the fastest usually look the shyttiest. Some folks will show up, "work out", maybe stretch and cooldown, then leave all in the time I'm doing one barbell exercise. :gucci:

I can knock them though, because I see they effort they put out and see that they still look like shyt.

- Quarter-squatting dude that cuts the ROM on all his exercises has actually been lifting longer than I have and still looks brand new. And he does hella cardio but still walking round with a beer keg.
full

- The broad that shows up with her baby in tow looks like she just delivered yesterday. She was either sloppy while pregnant or is just lazy in general, but if your workout was longer than 30 minutes you might burn enough calories to not look like you're at 5 months still.

- All the folks that do shows or competitions put in noticeable work and don't seem to hold their workout lengths to arbitrary time restrictions; they show up, put in the work, and leave when it's over or they tap out, then rinse and repeat.

Ya'll's mileage may vary.

So you want an outcome that requires some effort but can't utilize that desire as motivation to achieve said effort? Bet.

You're no different than the fat motherfukkers that can't put down the fork and pick up the iron, but complain they can't lose weight. :unimpressed:

@trap101 Come peep this scrawny, unwashed heathen not worthy of entering the Temple of Iron. Don't ever be like him.

I’m just trying be realistic for the average person.

Your perspective is from an advanced standpoint and I hear you on folks that be in and out for the most part are :flabbynsick: with nothing to show for it.

To those individuals they’re not pushing themselves hard enough, or at least to maximum contractile. But maximum contractile doesn’t necessarily mean more spend more time in the gym.

I guess for me, I feel my energy ween after an hour.

So it’s like instead doing a subpar lift or risk overtraining, I just use it a bench mark to leave when I feel that shift in energy.

And for the most part I’ve been hacking my recovery time.

By doing a couple less sets, I heal a lot faster with no soarness, so that’s indicative of overtraining in my regimen.

Once again, I’m just thinking of solutions for the average joe who isn’t motivated but wants to get in shape.

Most people who post here are iron warriors, that go 4-7 times a week, without any excuses or doubts.

It’s because I can always tell when noobs are going drop off. They’re usually in the gym, every time I’m there, which makes me piece together that they’re working out everyday.

That’s the quickest way to burn out imo because they’re not being realistic.

Only an advanced lifted should aim for 5-7 times a week. Everyone else should aim for 2-4 until until they see the gym as a lifestyle and not a task.
