Why didn't yall tell me suicide grip isn't the most optimal way of benching. :snoop: I wouldnt be surprised if squeezing the bar like you are trying to break it adds about 10-20 lbs to your max bench.

You never asked #POWDA1 so...:ufdup:.


I highly doubt a different grip will add 10-20 pounds to your 1RM though. :rudy:

Na breh squeezing the bar helps :dame: I've been using suicide grip for the past 4 years there is a major difference imo.


I have a hex trap bar at the crib just for that :sas1: if I didn't have my cambered bar I'd ohp with the trap bar.

@Gully Bull is right ohp is the top 3 exercise of the upper body. I'm taking ohp over bench press everytime. That's where the real strength lies.

Except nobody ever asks how much you OHP, and the lift is rarely contested in weightlifting competitions. :francis:

That strength standards website you listed a few pages back mentioned that they get a lot of their lift data from competitions. I forgot to mention I felt their OHP standards were off considerably.

A real world example is @You know damn well Is at 315 bench but 205 OHP

At my weight on the website, 195 ohp put me in advanced and @You know damn well got 70 lbs on me

Now if it came to doing some tire or MMA shyt or 3 Minutes in Purgatory, word to Dante, he's got it. :hubie:


We each have our own niche. As long as it's not calisthenics, Smiff machining, or cardio, :yeshrug: .

Finally reached the milestone of being able to bench press over 100lbs (110 to be exact).:blessed: :pachaha:

I still gotta improve my technique and sometimes I have troubles gripping the bar but other than that I’m on my way up. I should’ve entered this thread a long time ago. I’ll most def start keeping notes.

Right, I tip my hat to #POWDA1 on information, form, regime, etc he'll get you right. I do a different workout because I'm a fighter so I work on muscle endurance, explosive movements etc. I don't really do a lot of cardio(in the form of running) but anyone is more than welcome to step in the kumite
