Just realized I was powerlifting my last 2-4 years of working out. Basically using explosiveness, technique and momentum to lift more weights. That made me strong but the muscle gains weren't as dynamic as they could have been.

A lot of brehs in the gym (when I was 174) would look at me like I was stronger then I looked when I was on the bench. I need to stay focused on bodybuilding style training

Heavy sets are calling me brehs :wow: I need to stick to high volume.

I will say powerlifting is easier then bodybuilding.

2 X 3 or 5 X 5 powerlifting training

vs

3 X 12 or till failure/drop sets/supersets bodybuilding training

Not sure what you were doing but that's not powerlifting. :gucci: Sounds more like Oly but I know you not C&Jing or snatching like that. If you just realized it after the fact you definitely weren't powerlifting, you were just doing low-volume on certain lifts.

Not sure what the purpose of "bodybuilding" training is if you're not finna step on the stage. :dwillhuh:

IMO heavy weights >>>> *, but I think folks like to bush em because moving heavy weight is harder than moving lighter weights.

Best of luck in whatever you end up doing. :hubie:

I was benching almost 2 times my weight late 2019 early 2020. Using explosive touch n go and technique back wasn't arched but used some leg drive. :yeshrug:

Skinny brehs who bench almost 2x their weight aren't big like bodybuilders they are strong.

Look like a ole wide receiver instead of a strong safety brehs.

To look like an AFRICAN GOD........ :blessed:

But you do need to be powerlifting to have the strength of a God too tho... ... ....... :youngsabo:

Both of those sentences are false, especially the bolded. :mjlol: The more you typed, the less you said. :snoop:

The way you train does not determine how you look. Only lean mass to fat ratio matters for aesthetics; how you get there is like arguing over which airline to cop a ticket from.

There are dudes doing XF that could step on a figure or BB stage right now. There are PLers that are more brolic and will look more like an "African god" than you do. There are PLers blowing people away on the platform that don't even look like they lift. There are dudes doing "3 X 12 or till failure/drop sets/supersets bodybuilding training" that are fatter than @KingADOS n'dem.

This is why I can't retire from the coli, y'all newbs need me too much. :obama:

Say you trained as a PLer without telling me you've never competed, brehs.:mjlol:

PLers don't use TnG as their primary bench press technique, since all competitions require you to pause for at least one count once the weight is stabilized/motionless on your chest. PLers don't frown upon arching your back, they know it keeps your shoulders in a good position to press and shortens the range of motion the bar has to travel for a legal lift.
:usure:

I don't even know what my 1RM is without a pause, but it's surely higher than whatever my competition press would be.

I also noticed you didn't mention your squat or deadlift, so your "powerlifting training" was only focusing on 1 out of the three lifts? Gotcha. :unimpressed:

Not PL but Strength training vs Volume same shyt different toilet.

I benched 3 times a week and changed up the volume each time... squat was only 315(compared to my bench I was lacking) I know my dead had to be 405 plus. Grant I was doing 2 days and recently fired from my previous job:mjlol:

Needed that workout BAD :ohlawd:

That nSuns volume had finally caught up with me leading me down the the dark path of @Gully Bull. No pure injuries but a whole bunch of kinks in the armor. Took a step back dropped all volume and weight for a bit and finally feeling it again.

Before my workout I look at my girl like “damn I ain’t never not want to go to the gym like I do right now”

Got there started off with some Pendlays working my way up to 205x5. Said fukk it I’m feeling good, switched to some dead’s in my favorite way (plates looking like a mess, 3 25’s, a 45, 25, 55, ect all randomly placed looking like a raindbow :dead:)

After struggling to replicate that 405 pull for months my dumbass finally switched my mix grip to have my stronger hand the over hand ( que quagmire gif) and that 445 went up pretty damn easy :noah:.

Not sure what ima do next in terms of programming, life has gotten busy and we back in the office a lot… :patrice:.

EDIT: idk which goals I want to prioritize, would like to loose an some weight (I wouldn’t consider wanting to loose ~10 pounds over the course of 5 months a cut tho). I’m always with the strength increases though.

What really fukks it up is not knowing if I’ll be in the office 5 days one week and no days the following week :martin:.
