First proper week of Lyle McDonald Plan done. Week 2 will be looking to up the weight. So far so good
Yea I don't think I'll program myself again, just stick to the plans set out by the pros and maybe add a few accessory lifts here and there.
Played about 2 hrs of great soccer today but man, this Saturday group ain't it. Good for cardio and a lot of touches on the ball but some of these guys lack soccer IQ and technical ability. This older Scottish dude and I were the only ones holding down the midfield. Our team could hardly string 3-4 clean passes. And even when we did, the decision-making from our front line was appalling.
Anyway, the pickup group is going to start running 4 games a week once DST is over (T, Th, Sa, Sun). I'll still keep it to 1x a week until I finish the Lyle McDonald plan then reassess my progress at the end of it.
The ideal situation come summer is league soccer during the midweek, lifting 2-3x a week, then a long pickup game on the weekend.
