Hey brehs, I've been working out about 8 months and I wanna know if it is a good idea to replace deadlifts with back extensions. I know people say its a great exercise for adding mass and that it is a compound exercise that works lats, traps, forearms, etc. But I just fukking hate doing deadlifts. I do a PPL split so I figured that I'm getting enough volume to add mass to my other muscles and I just need to develop the lower back. Which is why I thought that doing mad amounts of back extensions (with a couple variations) would develop my spinal erectors. Am I right in this thinking?

Previous workout:
Deadlifts- 5X5
T Bar rows- 3X10
V Bar pulldowns- 3X10
Wide grip Lat pulldowns-3X10
Seated cable rows-3X10
Dumbbell hammer curls- 3X10
EZ Bar curls-3X10
Machine Iso rows-3X10
Machine reverse flys-3X10
Dumbbell shoulder shrugs-3X15

New workout:
Weighted back extensions- 3X10
Back extension machine- 4X15

T Bar rows- 3X10
V Bar pulldowns- 3X10
Wide grip Lat pulldowns-3X10
Seated cable rows-3X10
Dumbbell hammer curls- 3X10
EZ Bar curls-3X10
Machine Iso rows-3X10
Machine reverse flys-3X10
Dumbbell shoulder shrugs-3X15

What do you think, brehs?:lupe:
Simple answer is that if you hate doing a lift......don't do it

Man, I really wanna do a cut for the summer and get these abs poppin more but I'm on too much of a roll right now and don't want any performance setbacks:francis:

I'm just gonna stick with what I been doing, I guess. Been on that maintenance calories wave for a while now.
Hard to go back when you are eating well and performing in the gym.

I did it for a while. Enjoyed it a lot and saw some results I wasnt expecting.

Only reason I switched back to a split is because I have a lot of free time right now and wanted to be able to lift 6 days in a row
Yeah that's the only thing I hate about it. It takes me at least a hour and half to do full body.

Yeah man, you don't "need" to do deadlifts. There are so many other exercises that can supplement doing deadlifts. Deadlifts are so much of a strain on your back and overall body.
