re: frank jackson, i've always said that he's not a PG and wished duke had pushed harder for dennis smith for this freshman class. tyus kind of screwed things up as no one anticipated that he would be OAD. I think the ideal plan was for he and winslow to come back as sophomores with allen, then bring in a class of smith/tatum/giles for this season. That being said, frank's settling better into an off the bench microwave scorer with tatum and giles being back. I like him playing in the backcourt with grayson as both are dynamic off the bounce. I just wish he would look to set others up more when he gets by his man, but like tatum, his eyes are always on the hoop. He is allowed to play more PG when he's paired with matt jones or kennard, but he's still so much a scorer that he has trouble getting assists. his game in highschool was always jerryd bayless-ish in that they are basically explosive undersized SGs masquerading as PGs. Allen has by far the best vision/unselfishness on the team (almost to a fault lately, they need him taking 12+ shots a game, not 6-9). Just want some of that to rub off on other guys. pretty much everytime tatum, kennard, and jackson (lesser so than the aforementioned 2) touch the ball, they are shooting.
i think kennard's pro prospects are being overrated. He usually has trouble getting by his man unless he's coming off of a curl/screen, or doing a little spin/change of hands in the paint. he is scoring incredibly efficiently, however, which is much better compared to how streaky he was last year. The worst is his absolute shyt defense. dude's feet/legs are bricks and he can't keep anyone in front of him. he will get torched at the next level. I also don't think he could carry this offense/lead the team to wins with a less talented squad and a big target on his back like allen did last year. the team needs to get better on D in a hurry, especially on the interior. Really miss derryck thornton's ball pressure and ability to keep opposing guards out the paint.
