All working classes should go on strike until this shyt country makes cost of living affordable again.

Glad that HL believes in that. TLR is a legit shytshow right now with people denouncing their rights, and "business owners" posters that oppose his employees from unionizing.

I wish people would stop saying an executive order can fix a problem. Theyll just get sued again.
Considering that we only have a month left of this Congress, that’s the only path forward.

Plus Obama used an executive order to grant sick leave to federal contractors in 2015.

Even dirty ass MTA has better sick policy than these workers are getting. However we are governed by the state. Meanwhile, these private companies…

It’s complicated to say the least. We aren’t like other industries and our collective bargaining process isn’t like any other industry sans airlines. Sick pay is a big deal for a lot of rail employees, but obtaining it isn’t a simple process even tho it seems like it could be. Yes, congress had the power to assign is paid sick days but that was almost 5 years of bargaining with the railroads to no avail. This is the first bargaining round that we’ve really fought for sick time, and coming out of the pandemic, it should have been an absolute thing, but the chips didn’t fall where we wanted.

Congress (mostly republicans ), in my opinion, gets secondary blame. Most of them don’t understand how the RLA (Railway Labor Act) works, they don’t understand the lifestyle of rail employees and being on call. They just see the money we make and say pretty much say fukk those guys. Before the dispute made it to congress, it went before a Presidential Emergency Board. The PEB is non binding arbitration, however, what they say is usually what is imposed on us (historically speaking). The PEB shot down our request for paid sick time, essentially putting an end to our request. The republicans and Manchin almost unanimously agreed. We got some unpaid sick time and I think there should be momentum in the next bargaining round to move forward with paid sick leave.

Biden said in his Monday statement, "I am reluctant to override the ratification procedures and the views of those who voted against the agreement. But in this case -- where the economic impact of a shutdown would hurt millions

Making people hurt is the point of a strike. Looking as if when people have power and/or leverage they wont be allowed to use it. Rail workers might get they sick leave but it doesn’t seems like people forcing change by causing economic problems is something that will be allowed to happen.
This was disappointing coming from “The most labor friendly administration in history.” It was his time to show and prove and he didn’t even release a statement of support.
