Raekwon and Ghostface is the only reason street nikkas fukked with Wu-Tang Clan

this thread shows who was cognitive from a cultural and a street level at this point in time during 1995.
also, no regular street nikkaz did not fukk with Wu tang outside of cream.
before obfcl, dropped during the time period.
where the cowboy edict was challenged by the impact of mobb deep and obfcl.
this idea that every general.black person was into rap before 1996 is a lie.
nikkaz was not even in girbauds till much later.
it took almost eight months for deep cover to catch on and a year for das efx.
we want efx to catch on with general regular nikkaz.
including cream not catching on till five months after it was released as a single.
just this idea that everyone was into rap is a lie.
most regular nikkaz did not know hip hop was an actual thing till 1996.

No Father To MY Style.. A Son Unique
i think you're minimizing the other members. what makes someone street anyway? of course drug dealers would relate to rae n ghost, felons might relate to deck in cream, dudes on the block might relate to rza in tearz.. naming the etirety of the streets tho and giving it plainly to rae n ghost is ehhh revisionist atleast a lil. with that said cuban linx is one of the most beloved pure street albums of alls time so yea... it only makes sense

and i know for a fact ghost lost mad heads when he went abstract in 97 even tho supreme clientele is said to bring wu back to the forefront.. go figure

did the streets respect nas more than gza even tho nas is more popular? LS was street shyt to the core. so much so everyone bit off wu tang period.

It's between Wu-Tang, Public Enemy and NWA for best group ever imo, so trust this isn't at all a diss thread. However, a lot of street nikkas wasn't fukking with that Kung-Fu/different sounding shyt. Rae and Ghost were the street element. They talked about the real life drug dealings, the poverty all that extra grimey shyt that nikkas dealt with on a daily. nikkas getting shot, stabbed, drug wars etc...
Breh you're wildin...back in the day dudes used to go to the city watch old Shaw Bros. flicks all the time. This is before Manhattan became a Disneyland esque corporate playground and tourist trap.

And all of the people in Wu were on some street shyt. Every last one of them. If I recall, Cappa was locked up for that first album which was why he wasn't on it.

I think you're trying to contextualize why Wu was popular back then by using the metrics for why somoene would be popular NOW when back then hip hop was a lot more pure, the art was a lot less corporate, and the image in general was a lot less polished yet people still fukked with it.

:mjlol: I swear to god I never met a nikka that listened to wu tang

I have but i cant say they was street nikkaz:patrice:,throw mobb deep in there too....its mostly "hiphop heads" and "backpacker" types that fukk with them....not that you cant be a street nikka whos really about this hiphop shyt:manny:..

Bjt in general "street nikkas" fukk with people who are hot in they streets regionally,or whoever the popular artist is who. everybody fukks with.....on that alone i gotta think most people will see Meth as being more hot in they streets off popularity alone:manny:....at least in places outside the east coast.

Liquid Swords touched on the drug game too, but it was more storytelling than first hand like how Rae and Ghost do, they were def the most popular in that lane with Meth being most popular overall,I fukk with Wutang in general, but If I was to come up with a top 10 list of my favorite rappers of all time Ghost would be in mine somewhere

Read my post again bro and then read through the thread. this has ZERO to do with who's really street or not. I don't care about any of that. I'm talking strictly content of their music. Rae and Ghost were the ones on the relatable street shyt. They were the "Fly get money nikkas" in the Wu Tang. The other members were on different shyt. Street nikkas gravitated towards Rae and Ghost because of the content and themes of their songs nikkas could really relate to the drug talk and the get money shyt.

Thank you big homie

no problem my dude,....
the problem with rap is everyone thinks they are hip hop.
yet, they are not and don't understand that real people in the culture already noted where outsiders to the culture fit.

Word. I didn't even think this thread would be contested because it's pretty common knowledge

But I'm probably overestimating people's ability to comprehend and overall knowledge

It explicitly says in your thread title that the only reason street n!ggas fvcked with Wu is because of Rae and Ghost which is fallacy to the highest extent. Way before Rae and Ghost even got to really project that Mafioso, drug dealing sh!t those same fly, street, drug dealing n!ggas you talking about was bumping 36 Chambers, ODB and Meth HEAVY in their Acura Legends and Lexuses. And even AFTER Cuban Linx DAMN NEAR every n!gga I knew that sold crills and rocked fly velour jumpsuits was bumping GZA in their whips. Just real NY sh!t.

I probably should've said "Main" instead of "Only" but as you read through the thread you should be able to get my point. People keep bringing up what they did in the streets as if that has anything to do with what I'm talking about lol.

But you agree that those same n!ggas you talk about was bumping Wu big time even before Rae or Ghost even had a solo song? And when Liquid Swords dropped it seemed like every fly, crack selling n!gga I know was bumping Cold World, Shadoxboxing, and 4th Chamber all day.

I see what @FreshAIG is trying to say. It went over some of yall heads. Play that 36 album and the only 3songs that wasn't battle rap was Cream, Can It Be All So Simple and Tearz. All three songs had Ghost, Rae or both. I knew plenty of street nikkas on Wu when they came out but they were all drawn to Rae. Ghost didn't really come into his own until that verse on Dirty's first album. Everybody had a favorite. All the girls like Meth. One of my homies used to get straight As and didn't come out the house too much and his favorite was GZA. All the nikkas that was outside all the time fukked with Rae heavy on that 36. Its just that nikkas could relate to those two more. Its not surprising that theyre really the only two who are still relevant
