He's better for sure. He comes heavily from that Al Green school of vocals while R Kelly is more from that Charlie Wilson school.....who is great but noone would ever put in the league with Al Green

Kells has used various styles throughout his career. To say he only uses one style of singing makes me believe that you are not familiar with his full body of work and you're minimizing his versality. He most definitely has used a traditional old school soul style many times throughout his career. Case in point:

No doubt, he is. I never said D'angelo was miles better vocally but nevertheless, he's better

Whatever floats your boat. Kelly voice is more remarkable live than D'Angelo's is imo and I would say that you are in the minority in believing otherwise.

this has more to do with their style and how it relates to commercial pop. D'angelo is more trad soul/neo soul so he appeals more to older heads/people who love 60's and 70's R&B and tight musicianship

while R Kelly is hiphop soul and appeals to a younger audience that is bigger due to the hiphop-urban feel and connection

Again...you are showing a severe lack of knowledge of Kells body of work. Kelly cannot be labeled "Hip Hop soul". For every one of his Hip Hop inspired tracks I can post up at least 15 traditional soul and/or R&B tracks. And for every Hip Hop inspired Kelly track that you may consider classic I can post 15 more that are considered classic that is more of a traditional soul and/or R&B track. Kelly has made FULL albums aimed at an older, non Hip Hop audience. See Happy People/U Saved Me, 12 Nights of Christmas, Black Panties, Love Letter, etc. He also has written and produced countless grown man tracks for a bunch of accomplished non Hip Hop artists like Maxwell, Whitney Houston, Joe, Michael Jackson, K-Ci and Jo-Jo, Charlie Wilson, Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Tamia, etc. To say that he has more tracks considered classic because he is "Hip Hop soul" again shows you know very little about his body of work and if you do then you are being very disingenuous. His main connection with the urban demographic is because he is THAT GOOD.

Hard question. In totallity D’Angelo discog shyts on Kelly. But i would put 12 play to R(double album) over D’Angelo. 2000 and beyond Kelly is trash outside Choclate Factory. Music hasn’t aged well at all. It’s hilarious because tp3 and that pretty Ricky album was my fukking soundtrack freshmen year of college. Now I listen to shyt like sex weed and remote control like wtf was I thinking

That Pretty Ricky still slap tho :noah:

That "jokey" stuff is a small portion of his musical output. A very, very small portion.

Aight cool but you asked me why I like D better he ain't got no jokey shyt just three albums filled with heat that's some of the smoothest shyt I've ever heard In my life...maybe Kellz is more prolific but I just fukk with D's music more

To each his own. You tried to be slick by saying that R. Kelly is "jokey". I can pick out 35 R. Kelly grown man songs and split them up into 3 albums and they'd be better than D'Angelo's 3 albums by ALOT. That's how real it gets.Ya'll nikkas keep on acting like this nikka Kelly only makes playful, Hip Hop songs if you want. You just embarrassing yourself.

I didn't realize D'Angelo was so underappreciated on here.

I guess it just depends on what you aspects of an artist you hold most important. I'd imagine if D'Angelo didn't have the leave of absence this discussion would be much different.

And personally, I value musicianship and albums a lot. Writing is not as high, but I respect it.

I thought you were ignoring me though.. seems like you made a thread and mentioned me, as if you're still really bothered by yesterday. Heh. :sas2::sas1:

Nah. Too be real with you I was bored and I knew the poll results would make you come that much closer to slicing your throat with that autographed D'Angelo Voodoo cd you got. Dead ass.
