This reminds of this woman named Sia. Pretty much has a hand in like 2 dozen number ones, but looks horrible so she will never blow on her own music which is largely exceptional as far as pop goes.

You have rihanna or katy perry on that and it has 50 million views by now.

I dont think thats the only reason why she won't blow up. Even though she has her own music she doesnt even like performing and prefers to write. She still has a very big fanbase for her original music.

I like them. You don't have to be a powerhouse singer to be good. JHud has a powerful voice, but she oversings and I'm not a fan of hers. Everyone can't/shouldn't sound the same.

Twigs>>>>>>>>>>>>>anything in this thread

I mean real talk...cocteau twins did this whole sound almost 30 years ago. Portishead too, albeit much darker. Morcheeba...most of this shyt is dream pop/trip-hop with more pronounced vocals. Having listened to hundreds of albums of that shyt most of these new age brehettes milking the musical aesthetic are okay but why bother when you can just go throw on Dummy and get the real thing?

Check out natasha khan then. Largely the same type of music (a bit more avant garde tbh) but has a very strong voice devoid of the effects.

my tunnel breh :wow: dropping nothing but heat.

NATAHSHA :blessed:

cocteau twins :wow:

FKA TWIGS :salute:

you sir have impeccable taste :obama:

first 2 tracks are trash....terribly mixed

out of all 'mainstream' artists......vocally Ellie Goulding

:ufdup:dont ever disrespect the gawdess natasha like that. I almost negged you

but ellie goulding is :noah::ohlawd: her voice and her technique is amazing and she's pretty.:whew:

I'd start with her 2nd mixtape, imo its still her best project. both of the songs I posted are on here
Tinashe - Reverie // Free Mixtape @ DatPiff.com

Black Water was the last mixtape she dropped, not as good as Reverie imo, but still was decent. has much more of a laidback 90s vibe
Tinashe - Black Water // Free Mixtape @ DatPiff.com

I still haven't listed to her first mixtape but it does have the joint that really put her on

she just dropped a new joint with Schoolboy Q for her commercial debut but I'm not really feeling it, way too generic

the joint with BOSS, is the best gateway to tinashe.
you should have started there, on:

till we die

This is such a cop out and excuse for mediocrity. No, you don't need a j hud or christina aguilera voice to be a good singer, but you do need talent. Amel larrieux and goapele have great voices that aren't power houses, erykah badu isn't the best classical singer but her style and content are superb, Mary j bilge wasn't the best vocalist, but the raw emotion in her music stood out, keyshi cole, brandy, Monica all have good voices. Many of these new chicks are Cassie status over better production it's a slap in the face to real artists.

Music is subjective. Sza and Jhene are real artists. Just cause you don't like them doesn't mean they don't deserve to be singers. Don't listen to them.

I already said I fukk with jhene, she's a good songwriter, and my comment wasnt directed to sza - although if you listen to other people in the genre she tries to occupy, she's doesn't execute nor stand out against them. And it's not about me listening or not listening to them, it's about mass acceptance of a lack of talent and/or originality
