Here's a rejection story that went well:

Lyft ride about a month ago, bad ass girl picks me up in a new Tesla SUV, and gives me a look. Think we had met in same way before. She's not from US, sexy accent, we start talking, eventually we are on spots where she lives, a very affluent area. New places, classic ones. And it's about a 15 minute convo. But, have this feeling, like you are driving Lyft, in a 130k car, and live in Carmel Valley, and are still learning English?

she goes to drop me off and "hey let's go to one of those places, I'm up there all the time", and she puts her head down and is kinda laughing, says "I don't know", I say "not a big deal, just wanted to ask", she says "I just don't think my husband would understand" and now I start laughing and just say really nice talking to you, and we both laugh again and I get out. Nothing awkward at all.

If she liked you, she would've accepted your invite. She doesn't have a husband but it's a polite way to turn you down nicely

I mean she was wearing a ring but it's always a possibility

but the tell was the affluent address and the lack of perfect english and staying in the US during COVID. Like the only way you could do that is being married. Kinda had a feeling there was something missing. what's the word? Eliding.

My coworker straight up said he’s struggling with porn addiction. I suggested he go the gym and possibly church.

I actually go to the gym with him and tell me why half the chicks there are damn near butt naked? I was legit embarrassed and actually disappointed in the lack of taste in these chicks.

Then he went to church and he told me he couldn’t focus there either. Got damn are there any places where a guy can go and it’s not ass in your face? lol

Why do people even go out if they don’t wanna socialize
I don't profess to know but there was an article in a men's magazine back in the 90s that I read. The author was doing an article about singles for slightly older people and he had gotten permission from this guy who was running the event to write about it.- where single men and women paid to be there. But the part that I do remember - and this was sometime I think back in the 90s so take it for the time - the guy running the event told him.
He said, "look there are going to be some people at this place who are not going to want to socialize with you or anyone else there. They sign up and pay and get all dressed up but don't actually want to date anyone. Once you get the signals please leave them alone. They pay and regularly come but don't really socialize."
Apparently they were there because friends or family had pressured them or they felt wrong not going out so they signed up for the event but were clearly not feeling it. The author saw a nice looking slightly older woman and tried to talk to her before realizing that she was likely one of the people mentioned.
He started to approach and the woman brushed him off by telling him, " I am waiting for someone." He answered back, "Aren't we all?"
